Interesting Point system

The determination as to whether a foreign national who is included in the express entry pool of candidates occupies the rank required in order to be issued an invitation under paragraph 10.2(1)(b) of the Act is to be made using the total number of points assigned to the foreign national based on the information provided in their expression of interest and using the Comprehensive Ranking System that consists of the following components:

(a) core human capital factors;
(b) accompanying spouse or common-law partner factors;
(c) skill transferability factors; and
(d) factors relating to a provincial nomination or a qualifying offer of arranged employment.

Reading through the regulations it appears that Express Entry is now a points based system and both spouses need to maximize their own points to improve chances of selection. Immigration is going to become slightly more difficult.

there is a solid point, if you have a job offer they defined , you get 600 points already . for others , age is also important , and if you are a Dr. ( a big points too )

the common law partner will affect a lot , but it is balanced , e.g if you married age 30 get smaller point than not married age 30 .

but your another half can add some back.

for others, language , work experience years, I think these condition will fight equal between applications.

anyway, these system already killed someone who have no job offer . 600 point, how to match this up , even you are a Dr.

Guys,

I did spent quite some time on the part of the arranged employment, but still had a few issues trying to decode it:

So, they did not mention anything about current job holders, people who have jobs right now, BUT are LMO exempt.

Let's say, I have been working for a company A for almost a year now, with an OWP, thus LMO exempt...

Do they give you those 600 points?
Any chance they might ask the employer to get an LMIA now, at that point??

I could not find that online, if someone did, please do share...

I was trying to find something about people with Open Work Permit and Post Graduation Work Permit and I couldn't find any info. I guess they don't take into consideration that, for example international students, can find jobs without LMO.
Now if you have a job and you want to stay in Canada your employer has to get LMO!!!!!!!!!

Lets wait for some more experienced members to comment on that one, as I find that strange to be honest...

They should know that a big number of those TFW is made of OWP holders, mainly international students and their spouses.

That means that they have Canadian credentials, work experience, have been contributing to the canadian economy and are well accustomed with life here, making them "attractive" per CIC success requirements.

I am guessing those on open work permits (thus w/o current LMO) with an active job now need a LMIA. That includes me :'(

-----
However, if the position or person was previously exempt from an LMIA, then a new LMIA will be required under Express Entry.
