Hi All,

We went for X-Rays over the weekend and found that my hubby's report said : Noted early signs of degeneration in the thoracic spine.

Can anyone advise on this?

My husband is 35 years of age.

He had a back injury in a motor car accident when he was in his 20's. Since then he goes occasionally to the chiropractor when it pains badly over the past 8 years or so. But the chiropractor does his job and then my husband is fine for the next 6 months - year.

He has never been asked to go for any surgery.

Please please advise?

Hi SD,

Thanx for asking me to respond on this topic. But, kindly note that I'm not a medic, however in my opinion:

1. U should have asked your DMP to clarify on the issue. Even now, plz do give a call/visit him/her & ask for an explanation. That'd be the best option*.

2. Alternately, check with your 'local' family doc. S/he also would advice u better.

3. My personal view: If it is not serious ailment [as u say it is for sometime now & no effect it had on his work; and also your docs haven't advised u for surgery], I think it would not be a 'medical inadmissibility' issue with CIC. He might be asked for further test/s, but would sail thru eventually.

All the best !

*Didn't s/he provide u an opinion while at the meds?

Hi Qorax,

You are really helpful in taking the time to respond to my queries. :)

We have not gone for our medicals with DMP yet.

We have gone for our own medicals with our own doctor/patholistist/xrays - because we want to see if any issues come up and prepare for them before we go for our actual DMP medicals.

And thank goodness we did this because so far we found 3 concerning issues which we are now researching and preparing for, although might not be serious to us - we are worried how the CHC Medical Officer in Kenya will view it. The issues are:

1. High BP for me and weight with BMI over 40. For this we are gymning, eating light and drinking lots of water. Staying away from coffee. Basically all the advise given by you and others on this forum.

2. Husband - high level of protein in urine ( +1 and sometimes shows even +2). He is off non veg food, drinking lots of water and we are waiting for the serum creatinine tests with our own doctor to see if we can maybe even go and get a report from a kidney specialist just to give a comprehensive all clear. ( expensive but surely worth it to get that visa!)

3. X-rays have now revealed this degeneration in the thoracic spine for my husband. We are going to get his chiropractor to give us a report on how he has been responding to periodic treatments.

Any other suggestions / advise - please please do help!!!!

Dear SD,

1. Don't worry too much on the meds front. It would further aggravate the headache.
2. BP & BMI is not an issue. As u have read the previous posts, observe those & it'll be fine.
3. For CIC we take only a Chest PA X-ray. Probably that 'spine' case might [repeat: might] not come-up.
4. Even if it does, my earlier response should hold ground.

BTW: Show the DMP his BP case reports. But, the spine case maybe avoided [if u r fine with it].

Warm regards,
Qorax

Anyone who got involved in a car accident may surely have injuries. Your husband has to pursue medical checkups for his safety. He should be careful the next time that he will be going to drive again.
