Good morning all,

I live in Toronto Canada and my fiance lives in Brazil. She sent me all the necessary documentation (Copy of passport, copy of visa, Criminal Record both federal and provincial, birth certificate and also celibacy document) in order for me to sponsor her.

We will get married at the end of July. She got her Criminal Record on May 05, 2015. Will it be valid, by the time I send all the documents to the Immigration office? I think that I will send the application at the end of August, beginning of September.

Thank you kindly,

CIC needs to receive the police check within 3 months of its issue. Therefore, your fiance's police check is only valid until August 5, 2015.

Actually, that rule has changed.

From the CIC site:
For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

Thanks for the correction!
