Question:

I am Canadian and I'm in the process of sponsoring my British wife to immigrate to Canada. She and I have been living overseas for the past 8 years but we're now moving back to Canada.

While overseas, I was employed by a Canadian company. The Canadian company had me working on a rotational basis in Africa and elsewhere. Because I was never employed "in" Canada I opted to become a non-resident (in 2009).

I'm now looking to submit a residency application for my wife and I need to submit an Option-C printout. I don't have one because I was a Canadian non-resident. Would it be sufficient for me to submit pay stubs or a letter from my Canadian company indicating my salary etc...? I don't have a tax assessment from another country that I can submit.

Thanks for the insight.

Yes, you can submit other proof of your income and job. Your pay stubs for a year, and a letter from your employer would be fine.

Anyone who cannot get an Option C should submit a letter explaining why and other proof of their income and job.
