It is going to be my first tax return for 2013. So I cannot file tax return with netfile, but the paper form? Next year I am pretty sure I can file electronically. thanks.

You can file with netfile even if it is your first return. But you have to make sure you choose the button that says it is your first return because they are gonna confirm your details as part of your return.

It is clearly stated in the cra netfile website.

Look here: It's the paragraph above confirmation receipt.

Thanks. But here is from CRA website also, http://www.netfile.gc.ca/rstrctns-eng.html

"You cannot use NETFILE to file your tax return if:

you are filing an income tax and benefit return for the first time with CRA and the CRA does not have a complete date of birth for the taxpayer on record;"

How can I know if CRA has my birth date information? Do I need to call them to verify? But I did file universal child benefits along with my wife last August.

I think since you have had contact with the CRA before, you should contact them to verify if your birthdate information is with them.

No You have to file paper return if you are filling return for the first time because CRA wont expect your efile, as system wont have any data of yours to cross verify.
