I've an advanced degree in STEM, with 10+ years experience. PhD in Chemical Engineering from a US university. Currently I have my own engineering consulting practice with clients based out of EU, US, China and bill approx. 200k USD annually. No Canadian clients at the moment but potentially an option (age 38 years). So technically I'm above the average Canadian wage for my profession but being self-employed there's no real job offer. Luckily in my work it's mostly all intellectual, design and over computer and meetings so physical presence in a particular location is not very relevant.
Right now I'm a citizen, resident and tax payer outside Canada but evaluating my options to move to Canada. What would be potential options? I checked express entry and DO qualify on that front.
Technically would I have an entrepreneurship / freelance option? I guess this isn't exactly a startup. Just curious what may be the best options. I was wondering if there were good options for someone like me to get a Canadian PR and then citizenship but not tied to an employment offer.
