I am currently going through the immigration process in Australia. My Fiance is a Canadian Citizen & we have lived together for over a year.We moved to Australia from NZ but she can't stay in Australia legally so we are moving to Canada. She leaves in feb & i will follow when the application as been approved.
I have a few questions..

1: Even though they give approximate times for processing, how long should i expect to wait. If im applying for permanent residency.
Is this the best way to go about it?

2:With the medical examination it says i need to have all family members (parents & sisters) examined even though they are not moving to Canada, Is that really the case?? $450 aud each person is an expensive exercise..

3:Is it possilbe for me to go to Canada while this application is in limbo & finalise it from there.
4:Does anyone have good advice on this situation having to go through it before, would it be better to go over & get married & do it all there?
Cheers

1. It can be anywhere within the processing times on www.cic.gc.ca . Nobody can give you a more exact time than that, because those times are based on actual cases. If your application is complete and there is nothing unusual that they need to do a background check for (like a criminal with a similar name and DOB, etc.), and there is no interview, it will be the fastest. If there is anything suspicious (to them) or if they need an interview it will take longer.

2. No, only you and your dependents (children). There is no need to do exams for parents and siblings.

3. You can try to go under any regular temporary status (visitor, worker or student). Your PR application will not be affected, nor will your PR application affect any other application, though they may question whether you will really return back after your stay expires if your PR hasn't been approved yet.

4. It makes no difference where you get married.

Ok great i was worried i would have to pay out $2500 to get my family all examined.

Does anyone else have any advice/tips on going through this process, feels like im staring at a huge mountain knowing its going to be a long, tiring process.

Thanks

Use this forum! There are no stupid questions... :)

No, there are extremely stupid questions, but they're usually based on not having visited www.cic.gc.ca or reading the forum! :D

I have sent the application off.
I had a small 2mm speck on my chest ex-ray which the doctor wasn't worried about, he thinks it is scar tissue.

Has anyone had this before & did immigration ask for further testing?

Also how long is it normally before they send a response or let you know they are processing it?

Do they email me when they want something?

Thanks
