Hi. I came to Canada from the UK on an Experience Canada Visa (this is my second Visa as I came before). I have applied under the Canadian Experience Class for Permanent Residency, as I am settled and want to stay. I sent my application off 4 weeks ago. Am I able to apply for some kind of visa extension whilst I am waiting to hear if I have been accepted, as mine expires at the end of August. Any help and advice would be great! Thank you.

Yes you can certainly apply for a visitor record/visa with your CEC file number. Make sure you meet all the criterias. Specially the bank account balance. I did it twice while my application was in process.

Good luck.

Do you mean to extend your work permit? As a UK citizen you do not need a visa for entering Canada or staying here as visitor for certain period of time.

I'm assuming you haven't received your AOR yet but you should be getting it very soon. You can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit then so you'd be able to work in Canada while your CEC application is being processed.

Hi. Sorry! Yes I mean Work Permit. I thought, to apply for a Bridging Permit, that I had to have the initial letter of acceptance? It's just that my permit runs out on August 25th, and I was hoping to not have to go back to the UK whilst I am waiting. It states online that you cannot contact the immigration office unless it's been more than six weeks (it's been 4), so it's cutting it a bit close.

You should be getting your AOR soon now. Look at this thread to apply for BOWP without AOR: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/got-my-bowp-approved-without-submitting-aor-t153061.0.html
