Hello

Lets make a thread for Brampton, Toronto, Ontario bound immigrants.

As we all know and are expecting MRs and then Visas soon - starting late 2012/early 2013. I thought of doing some home work like knowing area, people, opportunities where we plan to land.

I am sure most of us are doing various searches on the net for jobs, accommodation, salary, taxes etc. Lets all copy paste what we find when we do such searches or re-search. So that all can benefit.

I suggest we can also copy paste from other threads so that every thing on Brampton, Toronto, Ontario is at one place.

Suggestions to make this thread more useful are most welcome and appreciated.

I am sure this will make our journey easier.

As per your time line you are near to get stamped PPs soon.

All the best and you should work out a plan as well.

Have you seen any jobs or accommodation or selected area in Toronto where to land and if you have kids, any schooling info you have so far?

Economical housing in Scarborough area.

2BR 985/ pm and all utilities included

Ref: post from fellow member "vidya" - Thanks

Hi,
I live in Scarborough (30-40 min. East of Toronto) with my husband, no kids, and these are my monthly costs:

Rent 2 br Basement $1,050.00 (utilities included, so nothing additional for electricity/gas/water)
Internet / Phone $80.00
Supermarket $500.00
Public Transportation $250.00
Misc Purchases $100.00
Going out $200.00 (we really try to control this...)

We don't have a car and are not planning to buy one for now.

There are places you can rent for $950 to 1200 near a subway station, and I'm not talking about basements only. It's a matter of searching well once you come.

I'm not sure what you meant about 'Meals'. In my case I put everything under Supermarket because I cook at home as much as possible. My 'Going out' includes eating out and having a coffee at Starbucks.

Hope it helps!

As the name suggest :-
"Scar"borough
It is a heaven for criminals who like gunfire, stabbing, looting, drugs etc etc. Who want to move to a location where gangs of criminal operate and bullets fly on regular basis, very very unsafe place to bring up kids. There are few places in Toronto which are equally bad as Scarborough where you can live if you have no kids and you dont intend to venture out after darkness.
