Applying for US visa

Hello there,

Please can anyone answer this question for me.

I got my confirmation of permanent residence but i am yet to get the PR card. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the PR card?
I have always wanted to go my family USA and i wondering if I can apply for the US visitor visa with my confirmation of permanent residence paper given to me. Will i have a problem with US visa officers

A friend of mine did it without his pr card and he was approved.
