Application Status

Is there any other way to check applications status other than ECAS? I know the American system for example would say that they are currently processing applications from a particular month & year etc.

My initial acknowledgement letter said 36 - 48 months before they begin working on my application (which was 44 months ago).

Being a business owner, it would just be nice to have a better idea of how long again before they start to process the application (i.e. request documentation etc) as this impacts on many of my business decisions. Not to mention my family is eager to settle in the great north!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No I have not. Will this also work if I have only submitted the simplified application form so far?
Also I though that I read somewhere that requesting caip notes can delay your processing time. Is there any truth to that?

My ackowledgment letter from CIC stated that they would begin processing my application in 36 - 48 months. It will be 48 months in September and I was wondering if anyone had their stated time pass and what actions should I take if this was to happen?

I applied in 2006, my caips said interview 3 to 4 years, and it has been 5 years and nothing, so don't count on it they don't know what they're doing at the embassies.

ihabkal : U are right,we can not count on CAIP notes as it totaly depends on the embassies handling the case,due to load of applications it is taking alot of time for each & every category,but all we can do is have patience and wait .............

I just came back from our embassy here in Trinidad querying the status of my application under the federal entrepreneur program, as the original timeline for processing the application as stated in my confirmation of receipt letter has now passed and I have not received any further contact from CIC.

They kept my query form and asked that I send them a query by email and they will reply to that. What concerns me is that the clerk (not an immigration officer) told me that they are waiting on instructions from CIC as these applications have been put on hold. However when I read the release from CIC on their website they cleary stated that applications submitted prior to July 2011 would not be affected by the changes in the program. My application was submitted in 2007.

Has anyone had any similar experience or can maybe shed some light on this? I forgot to mention as well that for the past month or so, I cannot view my application status on ECAS. It simply says that I cannot access any information on my application at this time.
