Hi,

I am Canadian, but my three years boyfriend is German and we would like to live together in Canada (we are now living in Germany as I found a possibility to work here but only till May 2010).
Are there some of you who did immigrate to Canada as a HR manager (he has just completed a MBA in international management and has experience in HR), or something similar, and who succeeded finding a job? We are quite worried about the chances of a non-Canadian finding a job in Canada... And I have just read a study from the Fraser Institute about immigration in Canada and things don't seem to get easier...

Good luck to all of you! And I would be very happy to get an answer from one of you.

1. As he would have to have 1 years experience in an occupation in the list of "38" to qualify for Skilled worker see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp HR Manager is not on the list.
2. If you two have lived together in a common/law relationship for at least 1 year and can prove it, you could sponsor his as a spouse see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp
3. Otherwise he is going to have find an employer who is willing to obtain a Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC (Service Canada) that there are no Canadians/PRs available for the work and that the job was advertised for a minimum of 2 weeks on the job bank. If approved, then he could apply for a work permit.
4. Depending on his age, he may be eligible for a working holiday visa http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/germany-allemagne/youth-jeunesse/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=8&menu=L
