I've been thinking of immigrating to Canada under the self-employment category for some time and would be interested to hear the experience of anyone who has done this. My details - I've been running my own business for a little over 2 years in sales, marketing, events and writing. I operate offline with physical businesses but mostly online with most of my clients located in US and a few located locally.

If I move to Canada, my local clients would still exist. I plan to split my time equally (6 months here, 6 months there) between my current location and Canada initially. I'm quite capable of sustaining myself on my income. I'm single and don't have kids. Appreciate any input from anyone who has gone the self-employed category route. Thanks :).

You might want to repost in the business immigration section plus assume you have seen the processing time if you are actually planning to apply as self employed versus business startup, it is currently forecast as 86 months One of the other streams might be more practical than an actual self employment application.

I agree with the advice above. I would pick a different immigration stream if at all possible due to the exceptionally long processing times for the self employment class.
