Can anybody here clarify for me whether the rule regarding an undischarged bankrupt being ineligible to sponsor a spouse is a recent rule (ie, in the last five years) or whether it has always been in place?

I know that the minimum income requirement rule was dropped after 2004 or 5, so I was wondering whether the bankruptcy rule was put in place at that time.

Thanks for the clarification!

So, as of 2005, the bankruptcy clause was in place. That's all I needed to know. Thank you.
