If you have a bachelor's degree and no other degrees and you have AT LEAST 14 years of education, then it is 20 points.

For 15 years od education they are giving 22 points

But

For 16 years of education they are giving 20 points?
Is it not strange?

No its not strange.

They are giving 22 points for two degrees and 20 points for one degree.

The idea is that you must look at your qualification first and then if you don't have enough education years, you move down the table but no moving up.

Isn't it strange that phd and masters get same points.

Anyway, let's wait for someone to confirm what I have said above.

What i think is that if Masters and Phd's (17 years of education) are getting 25 points then Bachelor (16/15 years of education) should get 22 points.

Why are they getting 20 points? While Diploma holders having 15 years of education getting 22 points?

It is not justice...

I think when the point system was created, there was a higher need for diploma graduates rather than degree graduates hence 22 points for someone with a 3 year diploma and 20 points for someone with a degree.

As for masters and phd getting 25 and bachelors getting 22, it is hard to understand the point system based on how we value education. The people who created the point system might have had different needs. For example, why is it that someone with a 2 year degree, 3 year degree or 4 year degree or even an undergraduate medical degree (say 6 years) get the same points.

They clearly show in their example (on OP6) that an undergraduate medical degree gets 20 points. Now if we think of undergraduate medical degree, they range from 5 to 6.5 years depending on the country. If we think about school system, they range from 10 to 13 years depending on the country. So for those people who take 15 years to get a 5 year medical degree still get 20 points (according to OP6).

Actually, to answer your question about how many points you will get, it is best to go to the source. Check out the second example of page 19 on http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf

Good luck.

Dear rupeshhari,

It is 100% confirmed that 16 years of education will award only 20 points.

Thanks for your GREAT help :)

Remember it doesn't matter whether you have 67 points or more, as long as you get 67, you qualify.

Are you in need of extra two points, if yes, in which category have you not got full points? Have you looked at TEF? Anyway, let us know and someone could reply back with what your best options are. Good luck.

Dear my canadian immigration has been approved from Sydney Nova scotia and i have 120 days to submit my full application to Canadian high comission Islamabad but problem is that i can't take TEF exam within 120 days. Without french i can't qualify 67 points.

So thats why i am seeking Australian Immigration to work at Western Australia offshore Rigs

Age: 24

Profession: Petroleum Engineer

Education: BS Petroleum Engineering & Management

Working experience: less than two years

Languages: Advance English/ Basic French (Need to pass exams)

My sister is Canadian citizen living in Edmonton

Avaiable funds: CAD $ 12000

I guess if you are looking for quickest immigration, then australia is a good option (except i don't know how long aussie immigration takes but i presume it would be less than one year that would take you to get extra points on work experience.)

Is there any points left to improve on your English?

Can you ask your sister to look for jobs for you? Does she have any contacts that she could introduce you in the oil industry?

Nope She is housewife so can't help me in this regard. If i learn Basic French then i can go easily to Canada but it is long procedure....and i really don;t have interest to learn French....

Since you mentioned Australia, i wanted to ask, have you looked at NZ or UK. UK has that new visa now but it is not PR.

No i never looked at NZ or UK immigration policies....are they easy compare to Australia?

i dont know about NZ but UK's new work visa is easy to get but this is not a PR. However after you stay for a while, you can get a PR. You should check them out. I dont know much about them.
