I landed in April 2008. My days for 1st renewal were short but was granted renewal in February '2014 on humanitarian grounds.(I applied for renewal Aug 2013) . My 2nd renewal is on 9 Feb 2019.
For applying for renewal in May-June 2018 (9 months earlier) the 730 days period to be counted from when ?
May 2013 or from Feb.'2014.
Kindly confirm as I have more than 730 days from May '14 .(I was in Canada from April2013 till july 2014) and subsequently every year.
But for 730 days from Feb.'2014 I am short of six months.
Your reply is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Count backwards 5 years from the date you apply. If you apply today, your residency period would be March 23/2013 to March 23/2018.

If you are short of 6 months from Feb'14, how can you satisfy RO 3 months later in May? There is only 3 months more, dud.

Dear ,
Thks for your reply.
My stay from April 2013 to July 14 continuous.
So if I start counting from FEB.14 (last renewal) I still need to finish 180 days before FEB.19.
But I want to apply early so the Last five year from date of application say 15 May'18 and period of 5 years from May'13.
I need confirmation about the start date for counting will be 9 FEB'09 or 15 MAy 2013.
Regards,

I got you. Yes, the date you submit your application then back to 5 years the same date. If you will apply in May'18, then back to May'13.
As waiting for new card costs from 3 months (normal) to 12 months (second review), it's good to apply a new card as earlier as possible (9 months to expiry date). In this case, you are still free to travel aboard and return before the card expired and wait 3 months for your new card. Very tight RO mostly get second review though. I don't notice this and I will do like this after my renewal.

From the date you send your application then back 5 years. If you will apply this May, you count back to May, 2013

CIC recommends applying for a PR card renewal within 6 months before expiry... applying 9 months before may invite unnecessary scrutiny into your application.....
