Tax Filing Question for Citizenship Application

Probably this is something that IRCC can clarify with a phone call. It seems like a pretty common scenario for Jan - Apr applicants.

Citizenship based taxation for OCIs and Indian citizens

Sounds like fake news. Don't worry about it, unless, do you have multiple concrete references?

Do I need to get my marital status changed?

Ah, actually never mind. I didn't read your statement carefully. You're right. If and when you do file for divorce living separately for 1 year is a necessary condition to be granted a divorce.

Do I need to get my marital status changed?

Do you have any evidence for this supposition or is it your belief ?

Do I need to get my marital status changed?

It's also OK for two spouses to live in different locations and still be married. e.g. an Alberta oil worker who's family lives in Nova Scotia.

Do I need to get my marital status changed?

I am not a lawyer. Use this advice at your own risk. AFAIU, "legally separated" is a legal procedure that you and your spouse have to file for in court. Otherwise you are still "married". In any case, you and your separated spouse are both eligible for citizenship, regardless if you are legally...

    Online citizenship test

Child, you're free to wait. Others are free to protest. And I am free to ignore you. It's a free country. Probably why many want to be citizens and be able vote to keep it free.

    Parental Sponsorship Quebec-2018

As long as the stock grant vest event is included in your T4 or RL-1 then it is considered Canadian sourced.

    Online citizenship test

I think you meant "Would add that if there is a..." or was it a freudian slip? Accusations and suppositions without evidence that assume that law-abiding PRs would try to break the law in large numbers are uncalled for. It suggests that you probably have a bias. Perhaps you can take this test...

US citizen in Canada (PR) working for US company as an FTE paid into US Bank

LOL. There's a reason it's called death and taxes. “Ours is not to wonder why. Ours is just to do or die.” ― Lord Tennyson Alfred

Yeah the naming and shaming thing is really uncalled for. I can imagine why they do it though. Surely someone has to be crazy to give up on 'Murrikah! Also note, the exit tax also applies to long term green card holders as well, not just US citizens.

US citizen in Canada (PR) working for US company as an FTE paid into US Bank

US tax complications seem like a tangential issue. OP's concern was with Canadian citizenship. Plus not everyone interested in innovative tax structures in Canada is a US citizen (probably the vast majority aren't).

    Tax Question Citizenship

A general piece of advice. If you find something confusing. Do the following: (1) Research the topic - Like you are right now on the forum and try to see if there is a clear answer. If not do (2) (2) Give your best response and include a LOE (Letter Of Explanation) with your application...

    Tax Question Citizenship

The "Not present" part is meant for those who became Canadian PRs and left Canada/did not move to Canada after they did their landing. Since your wife became a PR in 2017, it does not apply. To ease your anxiety you can simply mention in your application for 2015/2016 - "Does not apply - Prior...
