    *** March 2020 INLAND Spouse Sponsorship ***

Yes. This exact thing happened to me as well. If you don't also upload the docs via your gckey account it will always show as requested documents not received.

    What is my citizenship?

I have to say, this whole conversation re passports = citizenship is bonkers! I consider myself a reasonably knowledgable person and I had absolutely no idea that one could hold a passport (somewhere) and not be a citizen of that country. Thanks for blowing my mind before morning coffee!

Should I apply for a visa extension

IRCC considers your OWP application as maintained status - even if it hasn't been opened or processed yet (you do need proof of delivery, like a tracking number). CBSA however, doesn't recognize that status. So if you will need to cross the border at any time before your PR/OWP application is...

Do we need to apply for a TRV extension?

Agreed. I revise my earlier "They know" statement to "They can know", or, technically, "They have the ability to know".

    What is my citizenship?

Whoops, that should have read: Do you hold a passport from both Country A and Country B?

    What is my citizenship?

Do you hold a passport from birth Country A and Country B? If so, then just pick one country. If you only hold a passport from one country then that is your country of citizenship. I can't say for certain without knowing exactly what yours is, but a travel document isn't normally a document of...

Do we need to apply for a TRV extension?

They'll know. If you're departing at an international airport all exit data is shared with CBSA (and ultimately IRCC). If you're leaving via a land border to the US they'll know: Until around two years ago the US did not share any entry data with Canada (i.e. crossing from Canada to the US...

Previously worked remotely in Canada while on an ETA, will this be a problem for spouse visa application?

You could mention it in a residency note, sure. But keep it brief, explaining that you were working remotely and fully complying with all related local laws. They'll ask you to unpack that if they need more information from you later.

    description of ceremony/event???

So you maintained a residence in the US and your husband maintained a place in Canada and you two (together) would split your time between these two places for the last 6-7 years? If so, there's nothing wrong with that - for the most part you've lived together to the extent the laws of both...

    IRCC talking to an agent

You have to select the option to get an update on your existing application, and when prompted, enter your UCI, then your file number, then listen to the recording that reads out the details on your gckey account. Then, finally, after a long while, you can select the option to speak to a...

Do we need to apply for a TRV extension?

Having a valid visitor record (visa extension) eliminates any hassle with the CBSA. Being out of country for more than a couple of weeks is still risky for your PR application in general. A valid OWP gives you temporary residence status in Canada, and can be used to re-enter Canada. Currently...

Do we need to apply for a TRV extension?

Here is how the policies of the IRCC are different than those of the CBSA: While IRCC says you have maintained status while you wait for your OWP application to process, you're fine while in-country. CBSA doesn't recognize the IRCC's maintained status for first time OWP applicants (meaning...

Do we need to apply for a TRV extension?

The rules on this are a bit ambiguous. Some (including IRCC) say that as long as your partner has an active spousal sponsorship PR/OWP application they have what's now called 'Maintained Status'. The application only needs to be delivered to IRCC for this status to begin (like proof of delivery...

Previously worked remotely in Canada while on an ETA, will this be a problem for spouse visa application?

As long as you had legal visitor status in all those countries you should be fine. IRCC shouldn't hold a nomadic (and gainfully remotely-employed) life against you. I suggest you fill out the 'previous addresses' section as best as you can, showing the dates as best you can remember. Then...

Previously worked remotely in Canada while on an ETA, will this be a problem for spouse visa application?

You dodged a bullet for sure! Good thing the first CBSA agent passed you on to Secondary to make a determination - he could have easily and quickly placed a flag on both of your accounts, and all future crossings would be an enormous hassle (until eventually removed by a CBSA investigation).

Previously worked remotely in Canada while on an ETA, will this be a problem for spouse visa application?

First off, apologies to the OP - I seemed to have pulled us off topic with a bit drama... Secondly, while the exact details of my friends experience aren't really mine to share here, I can assure you, it was a rather mundane issue. The CBSA agent was in an extremely bad mood when we first...

Previously worked remotely in Canada while on an ETA, will this be a problem for spouse visa application?

Good link. However- A CBSA agent has the authority to deny anyone but a citizen entry into Canada for any reason - and no CBSA Superintendent has the authority to override an agents decision at the time of entry. Only in court can the above statute be argued in an attempt to overturn the...
