Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

Hi! Did you have to send originals of any supporting docs when you applied via postal? (or photocopies only?) Thanks!

LIVING IN QUEBEC AS A FSW

No challenges of any kind. RAMQ saw my CoPR, and approved my Health card without any questions of any kind. Easy peasy. I recently even got my RAMQ renewed for another 6 years with no problems! You'll be fine - wish you good luck on the move!

LIVING IN QUEBEC AS A FSW

Yes, that's a good approach - you don't even have to mention "evaluate my options". Don't answer more than what is asked :) Example: in my landing, they never asked me a single thing about where I will live, etc. If you book stay/tickets to Montreal in a scenario where you board your train...

LIVING IN QUEBEC AS A FSW

In theory, no, should not be a problem. FWIW, I gave an Ontario address for PR Card Mailing at the time of landing. Your intention at landing must not appear to be that of moving to Quebec. Once landing is done, you have a right to live and work anywhere in Canada. A PR is a PR.

LIVING IN QUEBEC AS A FSW

As long as you do your landing outside QC, you should be fine. I am an FSW EE PR, destination BC. Landed in ON, got a job in Montreal, QC. No issues. Timeline in signature.

    US Canada Driving License Exchange

Its similar for QC. I too had a CA DL and they had electronic lookup (no physical document needed).

Re-entering Canada without PR Card, only CoPR and passport - by plane

Any is fine, I think. Only if you're exporting your car, there are specific US border posts that must be used. For only landing, it doesn't matter. You can call the specific CBSA post ahead of time to confirm.

LIVING IN QUEBEC AS A FSW

Yep. Have now been living and working in the MTL area for over 6 months now and loving it. No issues whatsoever! :)

Nope. they did not ask me. If they do, just be honest :)

Re-entering Canada without PR Card, only CoPR and passport - by plane

Usually the system takes a few days to sync, so chances are you may still be able to enter via your eTA. But legally speaking, your eTA is no longer valid once you have PR status (an activated CoPR), so I wouldn't bet on it.

Re-entering Canada without PR Card, only CoPR and passport - by plane

The only thing they asked: "Your car has US plates?". I said, "It's a rental". She said, "Okay". Nothing more. I provided them with both: a copy of the COPR (I had my original as well, safe inside, but did not provide that) and my passport. She just glanced at the COPR, scanned my passport and...

    FBI PCC

Yes, it does. Last year, my PCC was also stuck due to the Government Shutdown.

    FBI PCC

Yes, just upload the PDF to your EE profile. The PCC is done :) (If you had opted for mail delivery, a hard-copy will come in the mail via post. But the PDF is more than enough for the EE application. I used the PDF version in my application. Timeline in signature)

    US Canada Driving License Exchange

It may be probably better to wait for the permanent card to arrive, if you can.

    US Canada Driving License Exchange

For Quebec, do US (California, in my case) DL holders need to pass a knowledge test/road test? Or is it a simple exchange?

    Convert India/PPF/EPF to Canada/RRSP

So, I was unable to find a thread on this, so apologies if this is a duplicate. Is there a way to convert EPF/PPF accounts (India) to RRSP in Canada (without attracting any tax/penalty, or a minimum penalty at best)?

Re-entering Canada without PR Card, only CoPR and passport - by plane

Nice. Thanks for the recommendation. I was able to check with Avis. Daily is $40 from BUF to YYZ, but they charge 27c/mile. So, it may come to a similar total cost.

Wow. I did not know that. I tried, but Avis declined (I guess because I tried to book at short notice, they didn't have any availability). Thank you!

Re-entering Canada without PR Card, only CoPR and passport - by plane

That should be fine. My card will arrive at a friend's place and they will FedEx it to me in the US. Though, I'm also wondering to collect it from them in person as we can drive to Canada using COPR/Passport. So, in two minds :)
