Haven't heard back on my email from yesterday yet. Last week she was going to connect with the Ministry of Immigration to determine how they are rolling out the "improvements" and would come back to me with an updates. And \she was going to try to get a better response from Mexico VO as so far...

I had a call with my MP last week and sent a very strongly worded update yesterday when I realized what was happening, how other applications are being prioritized. Nothing seems to help but it did feel better to express my disgust at the inequity of treatment we are getting.

exactly. So I would honestly hope that you are the next to be approved, or anyone in and around your timelines (which they have been!! the last few DMs from Mexico were for people whose applications were transferred in October 2019). What is scary is seeing that people whose applications were...

My app was received in Sept 2019, transferred to Mexico VO in December 2019, and hasn't been touched by Mexico VO at any point. So there is a real benefit to people whose apps were scanned, especially since Mexico has already confirmed they won't be scanning any apps that they received on paper...

Congratulations. I imagine you were lucky enough to have your application scanned and sent to Mexico VO, which makes me think exactly what I feared would happen is taking place - they're reviewing the scanned applications before they get through the backlog of their paper applications. You are...

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

I applied in November and just got an email over the weekend saying due to covid rather than replying in 30 days they now have one year and 30 days to fulfill the request.

ha! sometimes I try to be positive and hopeful. Lately that's been really tough, and hope feels dangerous.

Okay ours also, but eligibility hasn't started for us unfortunately. Still, your progress gives me a teeeeeny bit of hope.

When was your application sent to Mexico VO? It's feeling like that is the driver of their queue / review timing.

We're in the same position, applied September 2019. I ordered GCMS notes in August and it said the same thing. My MP requested an update and they said they couldn't get any information from Mexico VO aside from the application is in queue for the eligibility review but Mexico wouldn't give any...

That is so disappointing, but not sure I expected anything less. Happy to see some people having movement on their files but feeling very frustrated by the black box on timelines and lack of movement in Mexico.

    SEPTEMBER 2019 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

No updates. I received our GCMS notes a few weeks ago and it confirmed that our application hasn't been touched since December when it was sent to the Mexico VO. Criminality & Medical passed, Info Sharing not complete and Eligibility and Security not started. I was truly shocked to see that...

IRCC Thread: Paper applications for visitor visas, study and work permits will not be processed until further notice.

Even more jarring is the "to the extent possible" language for paper applications. Basically just giving themselves an out to do nothing different for family sponsorship applications.

We are in the same position - Sept applicant, application has been in Mexico since December. Eligibility and Security not started, info sharing not complete. No updates since the application was received by Mexico in December.

    SEPTEMBER 2019 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Congratulations! It's so nice to see some more September applicants getting decisions. Our 12 month "anniversary" is coming up in a few weeks and yet when I ordered my GCMS notes it's clear that our file hasn't been opened since December 2019. So I think we still have a very long wait and that...

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

Criminality is based on the police certificates submitted for all the countries the applicant has lived in and so is completed early on in the process. Security is the final stage where they go to CSIS, Interpol, CBSA etc (not an expert so not sure who exactly they check with) to do a deeper dig...

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

I've already been approved as the Sponsor, I don't believe my prior common-law relationship should have any further bearing to our application. Background check is in progress, destination is Ontario.

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

We provided the police certificate for the UK, which is noted in the Officer Notes. There is no Info Sharing section for the UK, only US and AUS. The applicant is from St Lucia but traveled to the UK and was there for a year 20 years ago so we had to provide the police certificate.

GCMS NOTES WELL EXPLAINED HAS NEVER BEFORE UNTIL NOW

I (sponsor) had a previous common-law relationship but it ended 9 years prior to our current marriage. The PA has not traveled much since 2011, in 2010/2011 he traveled to Canada a few times and before that lived in the US for 2 years. He never overstayed his allowance in Canada but was denied...
