Soft Landing and Goods to Follow

1 - As SaraRahul said, you can show that it was included on a list that was already stamped. 2 - I didn't do this myself but I've seen others say they had to give a copy (not the original) to the shipping company. Probably best to find someone who has done it. :)

'Permanently' importing car into Canada after PR

I suspect you were asking about the other poster ( @momemon ) -- I formally exported and imported my car during my move to Canada, so it was not being used in Canada before it was exported. For @guitarman, it might make the most sense to take a trip to the US for several days (at least 3) and...

Soft Landing and Goods to Follow

Yeah, when you pull up to the window to cross the border, have your list ready and tell the agent that you're moving for the first time and you have items you want to declare. It will depend on which border crossing you use but they should be able to tell you where you need to go or what you...

Soft Landing and Goods to Follow

Not a problem. Bring a list when you move permanently and ask to see customs. The settler's exemption, as per the goods reporting form BSF186, applies to new immigrants "entering Canada with the intention of establishing, for the first time, a permanent residence for a period in excess of 12...

Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

With the settler exemption on taxes for personal effects, including your personal vehicle(s), it's generally less costly in terms of both time and money to import a car than to purchase the equivalent vehicle in Canada, unless you were planning on getting a new vehicle in the near future anyway...

Why don't you reach out to them directly and ask about the process? Better to get information directly from them. https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/port-huron

Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

For whatever reason, they let mine go without modifications-- maybe it's not a requirement in Ontario? I imagine your other options are probably a local dealership or a private shop that's familiar with your make/model of car. Otherwise CT is usually the go-to.

Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

On the first part, I believe so. My title was as you described-- it indicated that there had been a lien on it (financed), but the lien had been signed off on the title, and I used the title as it was given to me for export/import. I brought the lien release paperwork with me just in case, but...

I am a RN from Detroit and want to immigrate with family to Ontario Canada. Any suggestions?

My partner's mom (Canadian) is a RN in southwestern Ontario, which is the part you'd most likely want to work in if you wanted to be close to Michigan (think Sarnia, London, Chatham-Kent, Windsor), unless you're looking to be closer to the upper peninsula, in which case you'd look at places near...

PR card not generated during COPR landing

This happens sometimes at the officer's discretion. You can call or use the webform (linked in Hurlabrick's comment) and provide a Canadian mailing address at which to receive the card if you have one available. If you wait longer than 180 days to provide an address, you will have to apply for...

Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

You know what's funny is that most Canadian cars have the option to turn their DRL off, and their drivers exercise this option very often! Although I will say I have the option to turn my lights off (my light settings are Off - DRL - lights - headlights) and supposedly I've passed inspection...

How much does it cost to become a Canadian Permanent Resident as a US Citizen?

I applied by myself and my total for immigration-related expenses came to $2012.36. It would be a bit less if I hadn't gone back and had my bachelor's evaluated (~$220 for transcripts + evaluation) and if I had been decisive about which test to take (~$60 non-refundable portion of IELTS fee)...

Ray of Hope - 125th Draw

Surprise draw! Wow! I wonder what's inspired this odd pattern. This is certainly good news for those who were waiting at 458+. It is going to be a tough year for people below that, unfortunately. Do we think the next draw will be on Sept 4th?

'Permanently' importing car into Canada after PR

This is why I'm saying it's separate, though-- the import process in Canada doesn't care about the export process in the US because it's a completely separate process that they have nothing to do with. Legally, you are supposed to formally export the car from the US.
