No update from IRCC on citizenship oath ceremony. Next steps?

Did your ECAS status change after the phone call? I’m just worried what happens if one misses the phone call.

If you don’t have any travel plans then you don’t necessarily need to renew your PR Card. However, for potential emergency reasons it’s always advised to have a valid PR card and passport available so I would definitely renew your PR Card. Plus with no exact timeline on tests, it’s extremely...

No update from IRCC on citizenship oath ceremony. Next steps?

I’ve been trying to say this ever since we went into Stage 1. It’s impossible to only rely on Virtual ceremonies due to the sheer volume. Additionally, if nail spas and hair salons can open (stage 2) why can’t oath ceremonies take place with proper measures in place. It doesn’t even have to be a...

    August 2019 - Citizenship Applicants

Thanks, Mike! Although, I would love for us all to get virtual invites but I don’t see this as a long term sustainable. They might have to come up with something better otherwise we will have backlog. My aunt and uncle got their US oath in Houston, TX on June 11th and it was a very quick...

I am being realistic! If the US can do it, I’m sure Canada can. So people there are unrealistic? It was a suggestion for once it’s safe and people here just pass comments and judgements as if they are all-knowing. I’m not saying I’m right in my suggestion but it was a suggestion!!

Haha. You’re the one who sounds frustrated and disappointed that other members are bringing ideas to the table. It shows lack of interpersonal skills and naïveté on your part. It’s like saying to a student who recently completed their university degree “oh you went through 4 years of hard work...

    August 2019 - Citizenship Applicants

Nobody is complaining ! With distance maintained in-person oath ceremonies should resume. The US has started it on June 11th. Virtual ceremonies will not be apt for a large number of applicants. You have no right to judge someone’s feelings and wants. If you feel getting citizenship whichever...

    August 2019 - Citizenship Applicants

IRCC should resume in-person oath ceremonies with safety measures in place just like US has recently started. Online doesn’t feel the same and best way to become a citizen. However, it should still be made available for people who choose not to attend an in-person ceremony...

Child was born to a naturalized non-resident Canadian.

We are not discussing what they are! Either way the child will be a Canadian citizen. It is to prove the citizenship and acquiring the documents to prove the same. OP asked if he/she will require a Citizenship certificate for the unborn child or not. And yes, because the child will acquire...

Child was born to a naturalized non-resident Canadian.

Yes, nobody is denying the citizenship but the qualification terms are different in process as well as paperwork.

    Unsurprisingly so!

Child was born to a naturalized non-resident Canadian.

Technically no. Citizen at birth not by birth. It’s actually Citizenship by descent. There are differences and paperwork is different too.

Child was born to a naturalized non-resident Canadian.

Not if the child is born outside Canada. Then yes, you will have to apply for a Citizenship certificate through the Canadian parent (you) - Citizenship by descent.

Or maybe he has a minority nationality ? Oath ceremonies have to have a good mix of different nationalities!

    August 2019 - Citizenship Applicants

I can only think of one thing on why some get before the others even though they applied after: I read somewhere that the oath ceremony has to have a good mix of nationalities i.e. not a majority from the same country. And that is why based on availability they are trying to schedule people...
