Does CBSA inform about quarantine rules? Does that mean if you commute regularly you are stuck to home and office?

Hey folks. Is anyone back to regular commuting? I have been staying home since march 12 and my company in general is in no rush to call employees back to full capacity however in light of layoffs and learning that a few folks are coming to work regularly, I'm contemplating returning to work...

NO. Only those deemed "essential". Some workers in my company are able to get a letter. Mostly lab folks and in departments deemed essential. Most of folks even in MI are working from home. In general, I think its best to stay home in these unprecedented times.

So I have used an expired stamp to re-enter once but I was living in the states at that time. The border officials dont know all the rules and it is possible if not likely that you will be sent to secondary and eventually be let thru. Once you get a paper I94 it should be fine. However, I don't...

Not disagreeing with harirajmohan's answers, just giving my perspective 1) You can opt in for US insurance. It might be convenient to get dental work for example during work hours. Many dental/vision facilities may be off during the weekend. I know many who do this. 2) Because so many folks in...

Yes its all circumstantial and depends on the VO or CBP officer. I know folks at work whose TN got rejected during the routine interview at the border only to get the TN visa by applying directly with USCIS. Sometimes you can be unlucky and just forget to get the only document that triggers a...

Yes fresh fruit poses invasive species risk so they may be concerned. I mean that is not just a US-Canada border thing; even inter state they have agricultural checkpoints (eg. California). My observation is that border officials (on both sides) appreciate honesty. Be aware of the rules as much...

Thats surprising. I had a in person visa interview for renewal and the VO did ask me about where i was living and working, etc. My H1b stamp does have a "CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENT" annotation. Perhaps VO was not aware

Question to commuters like myself- Are folks like us eligible for HSA? I have one but recently noticed some issue with a canadian address on file with my employer. employer changed HSA provider and the new one wants a US address. I also found this handy link from health equity stating the...

You become a PR when you land! I would not worry too much if they don't take a friend's address. Just call IRCC and they will update the address for sending a PR card.

Honestly, it will be messy and stressful for you trying to do that. Daily commute is the way to go, but again there are only places where it is practical.
