true. As for H1B, that's a bit of an effed up topic to discuss, eh? Spoke to someone the other day on a TN. His feedback was that the major downside is most jobs are at will (zero notice on both sides). Salary is higher, lesser traffic compared to the GTA (Nashville, TN).

if your line of work is in the list of NAFTA occupations. Honestly, I don't see the downside to living in Canada though. Just lower wages compared to our neighbour and really cold weather. Am I saying I won't move to the US once I am a citizen? I am not. But, Canada is decent too.

easy to say. Most of these people he is referring to are from my home country of India. If you knew a few of em, you'd know why they do it. Long explanation short: This is better than the other life choices they have on offer.

About 50% of EE is Indians. So, 1 in 2. Not very surprising. The govt. started it for us really :)

easiest is to get a colleague from your company (the one you worked for) to sign an affidavit. A lawyer can draft it for you.

    COPR and coronavirus

nope you don't unless of course you are there above a certain number of hours or want to step out. I transited through LHR in 2019 as a COPR without a transit visa. The duration of my stopover was 4 hours and 45 minutes.

I spoke to Trudeau. Said he will personally stand at Pearson and make sure people aren't allowed to enter!! :p Like many have said, be patient. Don't trust anyone, including so-called champions on this forum. IRCC knows what they are doing. The system may not be perfect, but it works!

but the point is to move here naa, baba? Soft landing, hard landing, no landing are just ways to keep PR status active. The whole point is to move here. Am not against any of the points being made. I am just against the discouragement. That's it.

But, if you are desperate for ITA, you are desperate to get here also, no? These aren't great fundamental stocks that you are looking to pick up in a dire market. Anyway, all I am saying is it's up to each individual to do what they want to. The whole 'don't come here in the near future' advice...

you are making a different point. What I am saying is people are desperate. The ones who are truly sensible will delay it. The ones who aren't they can do as they please. If having no income and only expenses is their thing, we are nobody to discourage them.

Honestly, it's best people find this out the hard way. They are in a place where they want to see the other side of things and nothing you will say will discourage them (except a select few), and I don't really see how it's a bad thing.

I got in with a CRS of 462 at 33. Not educated in Canada. FSW. Thoughts?

CEC and PNP candidates are immigrants as well, not terrorists. All they need to is adjust the target numbers in the respective categories. 300k problem solved.

Ray of Hope - 143rd Draw - CEC

yup, he mentioned that specifically related to immigration because that's all Canada is interested in addressing at this point in time. They don't want the negativity on CV forums to overflow.

but why did they do that pre-COVID-19? They had enough CEC applicants then as well. Nothing has changed on that front. The whole point is there is no plausible reason for -ve thinking. The government is reacting and adjusting to the current situation.

Ray of Hope - 143rd Draw - CEC

a good question if there was some sort of indication pre-COVID-19 that Canada was done with immigration. Nos are just going to keep increasing. Temporary measures in place for an unprecedented situation. Those worrying about FSW being cancelled, I understand your situation. But, think of it this...
