Soft landing experience during COVID by land from Buffalo, NY - 17 July 2020

Yes. Heard from who? There is nothing on CBP or DHS website that states this. I have used AVR twice when entering by land.

ITA received - Should I add spouse now?

This is only if he lands, gets married and send a spousal sponsorship application.

ITA received - Should I add spouse now?

Apply and recieve AOR, get married and add her. Don't land as single without adding her obviously. If you add her now, your points will be re-assessed. Points won't be re-assessed if you add her after applying.

Soft landing experience during COVID by land from Buffalo, NY - 17 July 2020

Bit old post but that's not possible. Once you are out of customs at YYZ, you'll have to go upstairs to go through CBP pre-clearance. So in their eyes, you're leaving the airport technically unless CBSA escorts you and hands over you directly to CBP but that doesn't seem worth the hassle. As...

    short of permanent residency obligation

What primaprime said is pretty much true and straightforward. What else are you looking to hear from others? You are not in breach of RO yet, not until 2021 anyway.

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

Probably, upto you but there is more chance of exit being recorded vs not.

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

As I said before, CBSA reports exit from USA to CBP. It's also in the link I have pasted above.

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

Not really, I have done it thrice and CBSA accurately recorded the exit via road every single time to CBP. My I-94 was updated instantly as I checked it within minutes. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/btb-pdf/eedcu-cudes-eng.html Data use by the United States Canadian entry data collected at land...

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

If you're in US, you don't need PRTD unless you really want to fly to Canada. You can fly to border town and then you can cross the border with COPR.

    Planning - border crossing help!!!

No, you cannot export at any border crossing. See if you can export at North Dakota - Emerson, MB border. It will obviously be cheaper that way with cheaper gas in US than in Canada.

Show that you’re travelling to Canada for an essential reason

Just my $0.02 but I'd think not. If you had essential reason, you could travel even before the amendment to travel restriction. But as I said, you need to be prepared to satisfy CBSA that you'll leave before visa expires.

    COPR and coronavirus

Yup. It is a loophole. I think they forgot about pre-clearance locations that are still on Canadian soil. Here's the DHS memo https://www.dhs.gov/news/2020/03/20/joint-statement-us-canada-joint-initiative-temporary-restriction-travelers-crossing

Show that you’re travelling to Canada for an essential reason

You'll still need to satisfy CBSA that you'll leave at the end of your visit.

    COPR and coronavirus

That ban isn't enforced at pre-clearance locations.

    US-Canada PR holder

You need to head over to US forums for questions specific to US immigration. This board is for people wanting to bring families to Canada.

    COPR and coronavirus

    1. You let them know when you're ready to travel. 2. No. 3. No and Yes. 4. Some people have taken the cab just fine. 5. Online.

    Questions about Nexus card

Off topic but has anyone got conditional approval lately? I got it today but I keep getting an error when trying to schedule an appointment. (I know with COVID it might get tossed out later anyway)

    Managing Canada PR and H1B

Just because you have valid PR card doesn't mean the officer can't report you for breaching residency obligations (RO). As a PR, you'll be allowed in but IRCC may start the removal process for the breach. If you do manage to sneak in without CBSA reporting you, don't apply for PR card or...
