Hello, a couple of things to note would be the closing date which is June 2023.

Preference will be given to citizens but it's not a requirement.

The experience sought can be obtained in some voluntary positions, and in the private sector.

They're only asking for a secondary education. Bonus if you're disabled or a member of a visible minority. Triple-dipple points for French & English proficiency.

When they set about interviewing people, for those who make it that far, they will likely also have other lesser support positions so while someone might not get the offered position, they could be hired casually or as a term employee for a lesser role.

In short, someone who is today waiting to be landed could possibly become an immigration officer in 2023.

A person who started working on this today might start a truly fascinating career in less than two years. After all, you made it through the grinder to get this far.
Government jobs have a very clear hiring policies not like the private sector so you can’t be interviewed and then be hired for another position. You either have to post internally first or at least give priority to people who are already a government employee, you have to post the job for a certain amount of time, there can be a citizenship requirement or priority like in this case, then you may be required to interview a certain number or women or visible minorities, etc. It is a long and slow process. With the election coming up everything is likely on pause until we know who gets elected. The hardest part of getting a government job is getting your first job.

@canuck78, I thought public sector and government sector are the same thing…. What’s the difference?

Perhaps you're unaware of the fact that the Federal Public Service Employment Act permits them to hire a "casual" employee without a formal posting. https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/Search/Search.aspx?txtS3archA11=casual&txtT1tl3="Public+Service+Employment+Act"&h1ts0n1y=0&ddC0nt3ntTyp3=Acts

    (2) The period of employment of a casual worker may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year in any particular department or other organization.

    (3) The provisions of this Act, other than this section, do not apply to casual workers.

So, in accordance with 50(3) you're incorrect.

I have seen it in practice where they may choose to go down an existing list to the names that weren't high enough to be hired for the advertised position and offer short periods of casual employment, at a lower level, to some of those people. So, it can happen and it can be a foot in the door.

I never said it was likely - if I can forestall any reflexive need that you may have to start discussing probabilities - I simply said that it's possible, and it is.

Oh so lucky. My problem was that medicals forms for my family came in differents days. And now after I asked, they told me they will ask quebec my csq. So I dont know how long it will take. Hope soon.

@Latin40, The wait time for Quebec selection process is unimaginable. They will send you the the CSQ application it’s just takes time. After you fill out the forms and submit, it’s another wait time
I am still waiting for my CSQ and I keep wondering why they delay candidates this way.
I trust God who started it to accomplish it all. Good luck to us my friend.
