Hi All,
I wanted to get some direction on what to do - My COPR was approved after March 18 and I have found a job in Canada now. Can i travel to Canada with this Job offer and validate my COPR at border crossing. Planning to go by road from USA to Canada. Will I be allowed to validate my PR application at border? Anyone done this in past few months (of COVID restriction)?
Any help is much appreciated!

Travelling from the US
You can travel to Canada from the United States to settle and live in Canada as a permanent resident if

  • we approved your application and
  • we sent you a CoPR
If you’re outside Canada
If you come to Canada, make sure you’re exempt from the travel restrictions. You won’t be allowed to enter Canada right now if you’re travelling for reasons like:

  • tourism
  • recreation
  • entertainment
  • to finalize your permanent residence application but not settle here yet

Conclusion: you can enter Canada from US if you wish to do permanent landing (instead of soft landing), as long as you hold a CoPR (regardless of issue date) Hooray!

Woww! This is some kind of a relief. Hope they start finalizing US based applications soon.

Travelling from any country other than the US
If we issued your confirmation of permanent residence (CoPR) on or before March 18, 2020, you

  • are exempt from the travel restrictions and
  • can travel to Canada with your CoPR to settle and live in Canada as a permanent resident
Check the issue date in the Application Details section of your CoPR to see if this applies to you.

Looks like you need a CoPR issued before March 18th.
It says "(you) travel from US", not "(you are) from US". So I would say yes if you are in US now.
Agreed, you can travel to Canada from the US to land as PR. It has nothing to do with your nationality. But if you are not in the US, you can't travel unless your COPR was issued before March 18th.

My COPR was issued before March 18 2020. I am planning to travel to Canada but will be leaving after a month for Europe. Let me know if I can still travel. Will be travelling from Pakistan.
