Ah yes, I saw the heat warning for the GTA yesterday. Still not as hot as I get with South African summers though, but it's all about what you're used to. Are you surviving?
I'm also from an African country so i know where you're coming from. ;)

But even then, it's pretty damn hot here, in the 25-30 degrees range, and housing is designed for the winter here primarily.

Of course, Canada is gorgeous this time of year so i'm not complaining too much. :)

Nice. Thank you for your support!!!!
Yeah of course, i landed recently, so we're all in the same boat as far as i see it.

Where are you from?

Yes, I've seen photos and it looks gorgeous! Hope you get a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the weather, despite COVID. So many fun things to do.

That's a closely guarded secret lol, but let's just say we're neighbours. :)

Yeah, it's mainly the parks and nature trails which are open, most of the other tourist attractions are still closed.

But making the most of it. Although if you go to Montreal, you would never know there is a virus lol.

Regarding 460 above being safe. As much as I want it to be the case since I'm at 460, I can't see that score being safe. Looking at the influx of candidates in the >460 range for the past months shows that the cutoff will be higher (probably 470s) This influx is happening despite the IELTS and wes delays that we are seeing....
Let me not keep quoting this again and again but I bet you that the cut-off score will plummet once the "all program draw" will resume.
Same was the case with CEC. During March, it was 468 and now it is 437.
More than everything, why not be positive?

The worst is yet to come. Praying for an all program draw soon but pundits have been saying mid 2021 or later before that happens. This has been some year. wow

Again, take everything going on in the U.S with a grain of salt, what matters is who wins the presidential election in November. and who will control the senate.

Trump is trying to shore up support with anti-immigration advocates in the U.S, but the truth is most people don't mind legal immigration in the U.S.

I think Trump would win again. If he does, expect more stringent rules as far as immigration is concerned. The time to do everything to get to Canada is now.
Should I say you’re lucky or blessed that you are in?

Due to lack of draws that has paved way for backlogs in the FSW express entry system, I don’t see the scores plunging below 465 at the least. Anyone in the 460s should just do what they can to increase their scores. It’s going to be a case of “survival of the fittest” pretty soon. The only hay in the sun would be for an all programs draw to resume as early as this Wednesday. If not, I don’t see the scores plummeting to 460 or thereabouts.

How do u guys stay uptight?
There is literally no clue abt resuming all program draws and we all are stuck here in a limbo. How to keep motivated?

I don’t expect anything that we haven’t witnessed. Anything above 470s is extremely difficult to achieve with the way the system was formulated. So whoever can get to 473 and above would be safe as far as EE is concerned. It’s extremely difficult to see anyone with a Masters degree, 3 years of work experience and still under 30years of age. There are some but if they breakdown the pool by these attributes, I bet that they would be less than 20% of the entire pool! So no fuss here, just do what you’ve got to do and stay hopeful!

The choice is between being pessimistic or optimistic. Sometimes when we least expect it, life disappoints us. But at other times, when we least expect it, life pleasantly surprises us. If we don't have hope, what do we have left?

If I don't know what'll happen, I'm realistic, but I choose optimism. I hope you and everyone else in this thread can feel that too. :)

I'm the elusive one you're looking for. Under 30 with a master's and over 3 years of experience! Can't wait for general draws to resume! :p

He's losing in every swing state according to the polls, remember he won key states last time by a matter of a few thousand votes. I don't think anyone will be complacent this year, i expect strong turnouts from voters.

I don't think it will have any impact on Canadian immigration, we've seen that they have not even been willing to suspend draws throughout the pandemic, they've just stuck to CEC only draws because they know most FSWs will not be able to gather their documents in time to submit complete applications.

Canada's economy will bounce back, and if anything immigrants are a big source of foreign direct investment.

I think of how much i've spent in the local economy since landing, at a time very people are spending, as a FSW we are the one spending all the money now lol, for accommodation, food, travel, etc.

We are the ones bringing money into the country.

For me, I am struggling to motivate myself at the moment. I was on 473 in March; I have gotten all that I needed to get with the hope that I was getting drawn in the next round of draws then Coronavirus happened and everything went to halt. I lost 5points some weeks back so I went from a guaranteed ITA to hoping that the score plummets. It’s sickening, there’s absolutely nothing that can motivate me right now (unless of course, they resume general draws ASAP).
