Thanks but this is not the right application for me. Also I don't want another PGWP, I just need a study permit.

This is for everyone: If you want to apply for your study permit from within Canada and you hold a temporary resident permit (like PGWP), you should use the form IMM 5709. I discovered it after a lot of googling. The CIC website is awful and not very clearcut.
I have a PGWP, I want to study take one course at a time and it is adult education. On my work permit, it says that I cannot attend any educational institution unless authorized. I applied my PNP already. I don't want my application to suffer, but I also want to study further. please help me.I will be really thankful.

Hi saadt

Yes, you can have a study permit and PGWP at the same time. I applied for and received my PGWP in June 2011 and also had a study permit issued to me at the same time. I was working full time and studying part time and CIC did not have a problem with it. In May 2012, my study permit expired and I reapplied for a study permit and was issued one without any issues (I was working full time when I applied for the study permit).

As long as you have a PGWP and a study permit, you can work and study at the same time without any issues.
It will not affect our application for PR right? and if I only want to do one course say for 5 month. I dont need a study permit for that right?

Hi, I currently have a valid pgwp but my visa expired some months back. I have been working in my home country but need to go back now. Am supposed to.apply for a visitor visa?
Exactly, as stated, if you apply for a FULL TIME study permit and then apply for working FULL TIME that is simply not possible. But that is for getting the permits. If the officer issued the permits, then you are entitled to do as you please, they already gave permission.

I think that some facts are missing. I have a work permit and a visitor visa, the reason is my country is required to have a visitor visa regardless of the work permit. The work permits allows me to work here, period. The visitor visa allows me to enter Canada. Two different things, two different papers.

When you enter Canada you are required to provide the permission to enter the country (the VISA) then you are required to prove what you are going to do (work permit, study permit, etc.).

Hi Guys, I just found this website and I want to say that it is amazing that all you guys are helping each other. Thanks for everyone answering all those questions without expecting anything.

I tried to find the related subject within the forum but I could not and as it is a similar question I would like to ask here.

As an international student I had my study permit before I came here and after my graduation, I have received my PGWP. It is going to be expired on Feb 2019 and I need to stay a little bit longer here as I could not get the necessary scores from IELTS exam. Therefore, I am planning to enroll in another program as of Jan 2019. Is it possible to apply for study permit while staying here under PGWP? A friend of mine told me that "you need to apply for study permit while you are outside of the country as it is forbidden to apply for it within the country"

Thank you in advance, best for all.

Yes, it's possible to apply for a study permit in Canada. You can also work until your PGWP expires.

Hi guys i am looking for some feedback,

I am currently a full time student on a Full time study permit visa. I am currently doing my degree(4 years). I have graduated previously from a Diploma program(2 years) eligible that is eligible for a PGWP.
Since i am doing in the same school i just bridged into the degree program. So i never decided to apply for PGWP and just extended my study permit with the new program successfully thinking that once i graduate i will apply for extended PGWP(4 years because of 2 degrees).
Now i have full time position opportunity for my job. But i am only doing 20hrs as that is what i am legally eligible to do on a study permit.
My question is can i apply for a PGWP right now (while i am in School Full time) with my graduated program? (and be eligible to work more that 20/hrs).

Thank you in advance.

Hi guys!! Just a quick query here.

I have 4 months overlap of fulltime work and PhD last summer. I stopped registering in PhD after summer and I am only counting my work experience after summer when I stopped being a student. I had both open work permit and study permit at the time. I worked as an intern and quit PhD when got permanent job. Would that create any issue as I worked and studied filltime for 4 months ?

From what I know, you must have graduated fully, i.e. completed all requirements for your study program, in order to be able to apply for PGWP. In this case, you need to complete your last exams and received the grades so that your school's registrar can issue you an official letter stating that you have met all requirements of the program and able to graduate. Don't have to wait for official transcript.

Also, the PGWP is valid for a maximum of 3 years only.

I am in the very same situation with the OP right now. Graduate in Accounting programs in Canada has the weirdest structure. The Master program is Full-time, but it is delivered in 2 consecutive summers instead of year round. So there is a whole big gap of the Fall and Winter semester in between.
My question is if I am holding the PGWP, is it possible to ask for a study permit to do this program in summer only?

My PGWP expired on June 1. But now I reapplied and managed get received Study Permit. My ISSUE is I applied for Express Entry and received ITA. I have been studying part time for 2 years and acquired second degree with my PGWP. My application for PR is currently in Process. I was working full time for 2 years with my PGWP. What do I do? Am I automatically disqualified now since I was not allowed to study part time under PGWP? I didn't know.
How could you study without a study permit? If the institution does not require it, then the government does not care. you do not violate any rule here.

Hello,
I graduated in Dec 2019 but my study permit was valid it June 30th 2020 and applied for my pgwp in Jan 2020, it got delayed due to COVID but it finally got approved in August. Now I also want to study a program, so wanted to ask if I can apply for my study permit. Will it void my PGWP? Can I hold both PGWP and study permit at the same time? I tried calling IRCC but due to higher call volume they hold a lot and it gets disconnected everytime.
Thanks!
