My application was canceled for being incomplete for the following reason:

The Police certificate from China that you provided with your application is not acceptable. You provided a photocopy of your China police certificate which is unacceptable. Police certificates need to be a scan of the original police certificate; certified true copies and unauthorized copies are unacceptable. Please consult our website in order to determine the required document. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how.html
I did provide a scan of the original police certificate. The documents I provided for this section are:
  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (original in Chinese)
  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (English translation)
  • Notarial Certificate (original in Chinese)
  • Notarial Certificate (English translation)
AOR: December 24, 2019
Refusal: January 15, 2019 (no MEP/BIL)
Here are some updates for y'all. I sent the CSE on January 16 basically asking how else I can prove that my scans are of the original. They sent the acknowledgment of receipt on January 21. The very next day, on the 22nd, IRCC sent a message to my profile saying:

The China police certificate you provided with your application is unacceptable, as the translation you provided for this police certificate states it is a photocopy.

I looked through my documents again, and I think the part they took issue with is in the notarial certificate, where it says:

Issue under notarization: the photocopy conforms to the original.

IRCC also said they won't reopen my application because of it.

I think what happened is just miscommunication. The Notary Public Office probably misunderstood what I was asking for, and then, when I got the documents back, I didn't think anything of it. I just assumed the part about "the photocopy conforms to the original" just meant that they translated from the original, i.e., it is a notarized translation, like what IRCC asks for. After all, they provided a separate translated document anyway.

Now, all I can do is submit a new eAPR. I've already received another ITA. The problem, though, is that I've been back in my country of origin for Winter Break, which means I'll have to apply for another PCC when I leave, but then, I don't know when I'll be leaving because of the whole coronavirus situation in China, and since I'll have to redo the whole China PCC process whenever I do get back, everything will end up taking way longer than the 60 days I have to submit the eAPR, so I'll probably have to decline this ITA and wait for another one.

@legalfalcon, is it correct that I will need another PCC for my country of origin now that I am back, and it has to be dated after I leave again?

@kamaljitkaur1979, I just saw that you're facing the same situation. Do you have any updates on your case?

Hello,
I recieved an update in my profile today and my background check has changed from "your application is in progress" to "we are processing your application" what does that mean ? Is it a good sign?

AOR 21 DEC 2018
MEP 30 JAN 2019

I was in false ip2 since AOR, then in mid July I recieved an update and changed to "your app is in progress"
In october 2019 ( the date my medicals expired), I recieved an update in my profile and noticed "you don't need medical"
Today when I logged in, it was profile updated and saw background check changed to "we are processing"
I called IRCC many times and was in review required for eligibility.
Requested gcms notes but haven't received them yet.

Does that mean that eligibility is passed and my application is approved?
Please I need your insights!

@legalfalcon My spouse went on a 2 month project to Ghana. He missed to see that his Visa was given only for a month and assumed he is there for 2 months as it was communicated that way by his company. On the day he travelled back he was charged a fine of 80cedi at the airport but no receipt was given or noted anywhere according to him. I am the primary applicant.
As there was no question for overstaying in the application I did not mention this at the time.
Do you think this needs to be mentioned as loe by submitting a webform?
In dire need of your expert advice.

In most cases, overstaying is not a criminal offence, and thus will not make a person inadmissible under IRPA. So no need to mention it if you were not deported, or made a party to any legal proceedings.

I can reply only for me (because there was a similar question after I wrote that I had called CIC). In my case, I contacted IRCC because I have also sent a WP application and my health card was going to expire and Service Ontario requested an official letter from CIC affirming that I requested a WP renewal. Since the agent can also have a look to my PR application, I asked if there was any news from his side.
I can understand that for someone is just a way to increase anxiety or it is seen as a way to waste IRCC agent time and make IRCC phones busy, but it's extremely personal because it is a human reaction :) if some experiment a relief in calling them, let them call (they will anyway lol!)
