Hello. I'm planning on studying in Canada and getting a PGWP for 1 year in order to work as a Flight Instructor. After that, I want to apply for CEC, with that year I worked as a Flight Instructor. But I'm not sure if it's going to be valid because CEC requires:
  • One year of full-time work
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), or
  • equal amount in part-time hours, such as:
    • 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
- So if I work 12 months as a Flight Instructor, but due to weather conditions and other factors I don't fly that many hours, will it still count as 12 months? How do they know how many hours I work on that year?

Thanks for your time

The information in the required letter of employment from your employer, plus supporting documents (T4, NOA, sometimes paystubs).

12 months will only count as 12 months if you work 30 or more hours per week (full-time). By definition, if you work part-time (or a combo of full-time and part-time weeks) it will take longer than 12 months (52 weeks, more precisely) to reach the full-time equivalent of one year.

Flight hours and hours on the job are two different things. If you are an employee, you will usually have fixed working hours. (If you are self-employed (AKA "independent contractor") the experience is not eligible)

Applicants who have variable hours have to keep good records of hours worked - per week, if possible, otherwise per pay period.
