I applied for Canada study visa on 25th May, 2019 for September intake. I got married on 7th July, 2019. There was some problem in my medical test so that I had to undergo some more tests. That's why I got my visa on 14th November, 2019. I was single when I applied for study visa but I got married while my file was processing. And I didn't update about the change in my marital status yet. Now I will move to Canada in May intake. My question is that should I inform IRCC about my marriage before my landing to Canada or after landing? I want to call my husband to Canada for Open work permit in future. Is there any other person who had same situation of mine? Please help me regarding this. Thanks in advance to give me some of your precious time

Yes you should inform them , otherwise they will see it as misrepresentation if you withhold such information. Also you have to wait to set all the records about your marriage straight and update all the details with IRCC before applying for the SOWP in the future .

Thnks for your reply. Actually I applied in Olds college, Alberta for September intake in Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism. My classes were started on 23th August. Due to delay in my visa processing, I told college admission officer to defer my fees into next intake but she said that there was no option for for international students to defer fees. So Olds college refunded my fees and I got my visa on previous offer letter that was expired. Now I have applied in Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax in the same course as Olds college. University has confirmed my seat and will issue offer letter in just one-two days. After paying tuition fees I will update DLI number in my GC-Key ID. So I'm thinking to update about change in my marital status at the same time. I want to ask you that how can I update about my marriage? Is there any option to update marital status in GC-Key? I will be thankful to you if you provide some more information to me. I'm so worried about this matter.

I didn't have any idea at that time that I should update them about marriage because I was so much stressed due to delay in my visa. Even my consultant didn't guide me.

1 - You can raise a CSE to update IRCC on your change in marital status.
2 - You will have to provide marriage certificate, medicals, police certificate, among other forms from your spouse.
3 - No recalculation will occur.
Also I think there is a fee attached to it at some point , I’m not sure . But just follow the process up you, ircc will guide you along the line .
