Yes,
Just be aware of following:
If you are unsuccessful with the Class G road test, you must take the Class G2 road test and then the Class G road test again.
i have more than 4 years driving experience from my home country, so as per your answer,

I give G1 knowledge test....pass.....and book G test................and if i fail G test on first attempt,..........i can do booking for G2 test immediately (as per available appointment)....and don't have to wait for the 12 months...........Right?

OK, if i then pass G2 test on first attempt, do i have to wait for 12 months to appear for G test, or can do booking for G test immediately (as per available appointment slots)...............?

Kindly clarify my confusion in this regard. Other forum members are also welcome to comment.

G1 test is the first test you have to do.

You can either claim 1 year of driving experience by just showing your driver's license from another country or, bring a driving history certificate to claim whatever years you've been driving before.

- 1 year of experience: Immediately take the G2 test without waiting for a year after the G1 test.
- More years, skip to the G test, but if you fail it, you have to book G2 test. No waiting since you have over 1 year of experience.

If you pass the G2 test, you have to wait 1 year before applying for a G test.

hmm....it means.....that if i am claiming over 4 years of my native country experience, and if i fail G test on my first attempt, i have to book and pass G 2 test................and then..........have to wait mandatory period of 12 months to again attempt G test ....... hmm .... ....its quite ironical 12 months waiting period for G...if i fail G on first attempt....

Exactly. Technically it's because you couldn't prove that your experience is worth getting a full G if you fail the test, so by driving a year in Ontario roads after passing the G2, you now have proof of experience that counts.

Either way, driving with a G2 is perfectly fine. Been using mine for over year and will take the G test soon.

Hi everyone,

I am facing a strange issue. My friend'son just got his PR visa and entered Canada based on H&C application. He was told he should wait for two years before he sends any applications for getting his PR card.

He is 19 years old and he wants to get his DL, However, ICBC did not accept his visa and the old landing paper that he has is related to 2010.

Does anyone know what should be done in this situation?

My friend's son just passed 19 years old. In his home country he has had 1 year of driving license. The problem is identification documents.
He entered Canada with H&C permanent visa and apparently he cannot obtain his PR card for the next two years. He needs to satisfy the 730 days before being able to apply for his card.

But ICBC in Vancouver is asking him to provide some documents from government that he will stay here as PR.

I hope these information help more

Hi Everyone,

This is a extremely informative post. I had one question though, I have an Indian license with roughly 2-3 years of driving experience. I have already done by landing in Toronto. I have my Indian DL but I don't have an experience letter. Will i still be able to obtain a G1 permit?

Anyone (even one without a license) can obtain g1 by passing knowledge test. G1 permit is a Learners license and only allows you to drive when accompanied with a trainer.
With a valid license in hand, you can do better, you can self certify one year of experience and apply for g2 without any wait. Request you to understands the roles by going through this link

Anything less then a year will not help you much. After you get your G1, you will need to wait 12 months for G2 or 8 months if you go to a licensed driving school.
