  1. Hello Experts,
    I need your urggent suggestion if possible. We landed in canada as skilled worker PR with our daughter. When my daughter was 9 month year we got medical request from CIC. So my daughter was diagnosed hole in the heart but she passed medical exams as well as we all passed medical exams including my daughter and landed Canada after one year of approved PR. When my daughter arrived at 2.5 years old in canada then she spoke 1 word. So we worried and took her to walk in clinic doctor. SHe was referred to pediatric doctor. Doctor continued to observe her upto 9 month..After that she referred to psychiatrist. So my daughter was waiting list for upto one year for assessment. Finally she was diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 3 and 9 month. Now she is 5 year old . We are going to apply for citizenship after two month. SHe speaks well now a days. SHe has a few issues ( social and behaviour but she is improving) as compared to normal kids. Her psychiatrist applied Disability Child tax credit . So we are receiving it since 2018. Such info regarding disability benefit is in CRA account of both parent as well.

    Would her health condition like Autism will affect citizenship case of her and ours. Please guide and suggest me.

    I heard some news for rejection of PR. But we are already PR holders and now we eligible to apply for citizenship.

No, medical conditions have no impact on qualification for citizenship. You will be fine.

Thanks Scylla for reply.

I have study some where it clearly said they can revoke our PR or refuse citizenship case if they find any of us inaddismble to Canada.

At the time PR application and medical request for PR she was diagnosed hole in heart but she was not diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder because she was 9 month old baby and she looked good and healthy baby. Even she completed her all milestones.

After one year of approved PR , I stayed one year more in my original of country and I landed first time in Canada when she was 21 month old. Even she was growing well and she was our first baby. When she was 2.5 years old then we start to get worried for her speech. Any way she was diagnosed ASD with high functioning. She does not have learning disabilities.

Did you heard for any such cases in the past regarding refusal or citizenship application or revoke of PR?

Could you please provide any link regarding such situation will not affect family and her citizenship. Becuase they have access in our CRA accoint where they can find our daughter disability benefit.

Please make comments with explanation because you are most experienced one here. Regards

PR / citizenship can only be revoked due to serious misrepresentation. There was no misrepresentation here. Your family is fine to apply for citizenship.

Thanks Scylla ....I am happy and relaxed now.
Of course there is no any type of misrepresentation in my PR case. Even I did research in cic website as following, now any one can come to Canada with disable spouse or child with following exemption.

Exemptions from inadmissibility on grounds of excessive demand
As per paragraphs R24, R117(g) and R139(4), excessive demand determinations under A38(1)(c) do not apply to:

  • spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner
  • a dependent child (including an adopted a child) of the sponsor, or of the sponsor’s spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner;
  • Convention Refugees;
  • protected persons.
Although such individuals must undertake a full immigration medical examination, they are not assessed for excessive demand.

Thanks for reducing my stress.

That is incorrect and you have misunderstood the above rule. The exemption to excessive demand only applies to family sponsorship and refugee streams.

If someone is immigrating through an economic stream like Express Entry or PNP, excessive demand still applies and they can be refused if their spouse / dependent child has a medical issue.
