Hi guys,

Wanted to share an update with everyone who is past 6 months.

I called the IRCC this morning and was told that my application hasn't been opened by agent since I submitted the RCMP police check over 4 months ago.
He said a notice has been sent to the agent and they will be required to reopen the application within a week. From which point on processing will continue.

My AOR is May 16, 2019 > medicals passed on June 24, 2019 > RCMP check submitted on July 17, 2019 (no activity or update since then). The application is at Sydney office.
an hour after the call, i got email from CPC-Sydney stating that application is awaiting review by an officer.

Forward from Feb AOR...guess our timeline will be similar to them (8-9 months)

VO: CIO Sydney
AOR: February 23, 2019
Medical Passed: April 10, 2019
Biometrics Passed: May 2, 2019
GCMS Notes Ordered: July 5, 2019
GCMS Notes Received: August 6, 2019 (Found out Eligibility was NOT MET due to "Employment documents do not contain job description/main duties". Also found that the application was assigned to and awaiting review of CB01126)
Uploaded updated employment letter: August 7, 2019
Lots of calls and CSE during this period along with ordering multiple GCMS Notes. All showed no update at all. Call and CSE responses were "Awaiting review of an officer"
Finally a ghost update: November 16, 2019 - PPR then

everyone from Sydney Office will get the same reply as you and the average processing time is 8-9 months

I got the awaiting review reply since November and nothing change so far
It is frustrating to find out that application is delayed simply because agent never reopened the file. Furthermore it was put on hold for RCMP police check, which was not requested at the time of submission.
I have Studied and worked in Canada since I turned 18 and dont have any travel history. Entirety of background including education and work experience is based in Canada. Education credential are from 1 school and work experience is from 1 employer. When I applied for PR, i thought it will be fairly quick as application is straight forward but evidently not.

I guess i need to learn patience from members of this forum who are waiting as well.

I called Ircc just now and they told that my VO is London UK so they don't have info.
I asked my agent to raise webform last week to LVO but no reply yet.

Anyone else in London vo or can guide. Yesterday I passed 7 months .....

Got this reply back after 2 weeks from calling agent who said eligibility met criminality valid and security not initiated.

This email is in response to an inquiry via the Call Centre requesting the status of your application.

Application is awaiting the review of an officer.

Notification will be sent in due course.

Thank you.

In previous cases what i found in this forum is most people who got this reply took 11-12 months either to get an adr or decision. Not sure what is going on in Sydney. :_/

yea I know, my background and case should be straight forward too..I got a request for my Police cert too which is not required before AOR.

it is just a simple document request from CIC and it will cause a huge delay for a piece of paper (basically just a sentence from a paper). It doesn't make sense and unfair for us.

I am pissed and asked if they can transfer my file to another office but no luck or generic replies. Most of my friends had a similar background got the PPR in under 6 months (the only difference was my hometown Hong Kong only do PCC after AOR but their hometown could do it before AOR.)

I think it is like a procedure bug for them

When I knew my case processed in Sydney back to 4th month, I know I will screw up the 6 months timeline and it is true lol

8 months is possible when they reopen your file and everything is good

12-24 months - when they reopen and find out there is a new problem ...you gotta queue again and again.

I don't hear any news from April AOR so far but when you check March AOR, people start getting PPR

I think February is more realistic estimate for us...

It %&$ suck

Hope miracle will happen and get ours in January.

I just try to put my expectation in Feb to avoid disappointment
Even the same with me...I made up my mind for Feb...in the mean while if the PPR triggers that would be great...Good Luck and let's hope for the best :)

12-24 months? That's really depressing. The thing I find ridiculous about all this is in case they do find some problem is why they won't reach out to the applicant to let them know and see if they can provide evidence that sorts out the problem? Basically if they find a problem with your application they will sit on it and wait till you find our yourself and take the step on your own to help solve that problem. That worries me.

Hey everyone,

I received an email this morning - 'We are pleased to advise you that your final determination for permanent residence interview has been scheduled for - Jan 6.'

From what I read, this is good news! However, I just want to know if there is anything in particular I need to prepare for.

On another note - I am leaving the country on Dec 20 until Jan 5, and my current work permit is tied to an employer, whom I was just laid off from and no longer work there. How do I re-enter Canada in this situation? Is the email with my interview request enough? Or can I enter just as a visitor? Flying into Seattle so will be crossing the border by land.

Any advise would be appreciated!
