Hi,
My citizenship application returned today as i missed to check mark the question where i grant CBSA the rights to pull my travel history.
(They mentioned that they did not take any money)

Now my question is:
1. They have highlighted that in Yellow. Can i just check it and send back the same application? (though that question is highlighted. Note they were written the application date and also put my photo on a plastic bag and stapled it)
2. When they sent the complete application back, they did not return the Proof of Payment copy or the Document Checklist signed copy. Should i printout both and send again? What will be the date on my Checklist? Will it be today's date?

Very odd for them to say they did not take any money, given you have to pay and they take the money to provide the proof of payment that you said you provided.

I'd re-print that page, make sure it is complete, and include that vs the one with a highlighter pen on it. This is providing you print the same copy of the form that you used before (ie: if there is a more recent one don't use this as could miss a question or be a discrepancy). As long as the date at the end is within I believe 90 days, and you're using a reasonably recent form, not one from many months ago, it's fine to re-submit.

Print both out as you want to ensure it's a complete application. With todays date.

Not sure what you mean from written the application date and put photo into a bag etc..

Hi, I also have the similar issue and got my application returned today.
Can you guide how you responded by just check marking the original highlighted form or replaced the page...do we need to write a letter while returning? Thanks

Hi, when did your application reach CIC office?

this is the typical extreme bureaucracy of CIC, no where in the 21st century where a single missing mark can take 2-3 months for the applicant to correct. It is a waste of time for both CIC and application, why can't CIC just have a website for online filing of forms so that these kind of missing marks can be corrected at first place? what a shame on CIC

Hi
I did have exactly same situation.
What I did is
I've printed that page with a tick this time
I've added new check list
And I updated my calculator because of the 90 days.
On the top of my application I've put First
page of the latter they have send me.
Send the package back same day.
Recived AOR on dec 6th

IRCC offers the forms online for download/print out. You can fill the electronic forms out on your computer and print them. If you're asking why IRCC doesn't allow for submitting the forms electronically, think about it for a minute. IRCC requires the applicant to sign the forms with their own signature and to provide stamped/signed pictures; this is all required because of the risk of fraud. Submitting the application entirely online or even partly online opens the entire process up to exponentially more security vulnerabilities and fraud attempts, including hacking the application website/system. This is why it all has to be submitted together, and all via regular mail using paper print-outs and real pictures, not digital pictures.

Do not blame IRCC for people not following the directions. Less than 1% of applications get returned to applicants because of the CBSA travel history question. Canada is a free country and they are required by law to explicitly ask applicants for permission to retrieve their travel history; if the applicant does not check the box for this question, they either fundamentally misunderstand the application process or they were not paying attention when they filled out the paperwork. Either way, it isn't a "shame on CIC", it's a shame on the applicant. Own it, don't make excuses.

Total shame yes , that people can’t follow directions , then others put the blame on the Government. Yup, total shame
It’s citizenship they are applying for , not a library card

I originally came to Canada on IEC and then I applied for Express Entry - citizenship application is the first time I've had to mail a form to IRCC. So it is possible to enable applications to be done partially/completely online. There's even some forms where they can be validated by the applicant (there's a button in the form that checks all the entries and marks missing information). It's on the applicant filling in the form to make sure all checkboxes are marked but IRCC also have tools at their disposal to help the applicant.

How about streamlining...
How about printing this just above the signature box...
By signing the application you expressly authorize IRCC to check your exit and entry record with Canada Border Services AND tax filings with Revenue Canada. That would eliminate the "innocuous" check-boxes.
