I am thinking of renouncing my Canadian PR and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience in that? Although the process seems straight-forward - it doesn't mention how long will it take?

Also, do you really need that confirmation in order to apply for the PR again?

Thanks

There is no quoted timescale for renouncing, some people get approval in weeks others in a few months. Believe it is a paper application hence the lack of any prediction for processing and fact it is an exception process.

There are exceptions where people have previously applied for a TRV or an ETA as they have a capability following a rejection due to PR status to upload the renounce documents in their MYCIC account. So they report seeing a response in weeks .

Cannot really comment on whether need a confirmation before applying again for PR but guess that makes sense. You would expect IRCC to be keen to process renounce applications and not reject so assuming the guidelines are followed to renounce would hope confirmations are issued with little delay. As said paper applications are difficult to predict given you have the initial mail to a centre and then distribution to a VO to process and mail a response.
