Hi,
I'm travelling to Canada on PR with my family from Pakistan. My question is that can I take 30k cad with me to canada. Current rule is if you are bringing 10k per person to Canada then you dont need to declare at airport. Also can I bring 10k on my 7 years old son behalf.

When you enter Canada you must declare any amount over 10k , this can include the total across multiple currencies. When travelling as a family and presenting to CBSA/customs as such the 10 K declaration still stands so you cannot just give or say anything over the 10k belongs to another family member and avoid declaration .

Failure to declare could result in a fine, confiscation or both but you could carry a million dollars in as long as you declare it. Although in reality the larger the amount then a few more questions about source might be asked but a new immigrant with just 30k should be fine as long as declared.

Yes, bring it and declare it. There are no downsides really of declaring. Many folks are just let through after verbal questions
