need urgent help !!!

applied for PGP, got invitation, documents received at CIC missisauga.

lost the job, can I apply for EI (Employment insurance)? would that effect the sponsorship application?

Would really appreciate information about what can I do and what i can't.
Your sponsorship eligibility is based on income of year 2016, 2017 and 2018. If your application is not completed by dec 31st 2019, then in 2020 you are required to meet income cut off for 2019 as well. EI income (except special benefits which is parental EI) cannot be counted towards 2019 income for cut off. so EI is not the issue, your issue might be not meeting 2019 cut off in 2020 IF your application is not completed by Dec 31st 2019. If you already have enough income for 2019 to meet the cut off then really nothing to worry about.

Sorry about the job loss. Hope something comes up soon.

Adding to that, CIC ask that you maintain the income eligibility for the duration of the app processing, but it's rarely an issue. Let the process go as it is and don't sweat over it.

Really appreciate your quick response. already met the 2019 criteria. hopefully the application will be completed by dec 2020. my concern is what would be my reply if they ask top prove the meeting of requirements for 2020. or if they asked about employment status.

Also my main question was would applying for EI be considered as taking social assistance. the reason why I'm asking this question is because I remember in sponsorship application it said that until the approval of Permanent residence of parents you should not be taking social assistance. would EI be considered as social assistance?

yes, I thought about that too, but I believe that is in the rare case. but if they asked for that how do I prove that I and meeting the criteria in the mid of the year?

Hello

Can someone suggest me on this situation:
My parents are coming to Canada on Dec 07 for 6-7 months (We waited a lot to get their biometrics but now due to personal reasons I need them here & can’t wait more)
I am May 10th applicant, in process since Aug 08. So my application is stuck in process for more than 3 months.
Next week, as soon as my parents arrive here, should I send a web form to inform about change in home address and also request an exemption for biometrics?
If I request exemption for bio, I know there is very less chance of getting that now, but would it delay my application more?
I am eagerly waiting for news of opening bio collection centres in Canada but there is no confirm news yet.
Can someone suggest something on this exemption thing?
Can't believe you're still waiting to hear something, even its a step ahead of where you are, that's unreal!! Do you parents already have a visa to come for 6-7 months?? If thats the case, things should have progressed by then

I keep it concise: sponsoring my mom and brother (dep under 21). My brother is already in Canada as student. Received the biometrics request for my mom, she needs to go to a VAC. Now wondering if my brother also need to do that? The letter does not mention any dependent. He's already done it last year when getting the study permit and he's in Canada. Any clarification is much appreciated.
Thanks
1. Dependent under 22 years old not 21 ( before the 22nd birthday)
2. Many members got exemption because of provided bio in the past. I think this will be fine

Record of Employment which you should get from your employer usually have the amount you made in 2019, or most recent paystub should have the Year to date income for 2019. I do not think they are worried about employment status. My understanding is for 2019, eligibility maintenance is only based on 2016, 2017 and 2018.. You only need to worry about 2019 in 2020.

No, EI and Social assistance are quite different. Social assistance (welfare) will disqualify you from sponsoring your parents.
But better to find employment soon. If you believe in yourself, it will not be hard to be re-employed.
