There shouldn't be that many changes in the initial period of the new government, so prospective candidates
should use this period to try and up their score and/or realign their expectations, if necessary.
All the best to all.

Hello all,

I created my express entry profile on 11th November 2019 after I received my ECA from WES. My CRS is 471 and I hope I shall receive ITA in the upcoming two draws.

I have been admitted to Goodman School of Business' MBA Program for August 2020 Intake. Now my question is as follows:

- Suppose I receive the ITA this month end (27 Nov draw) will I be able to complete all the process until end of July 2020? All the docs required post ITA like Reference Letters, Proof of Funds, PCC etc are already ready with me and I can submit them within two days of receipt of ITA except the Medicals which can be only done post receipt of ITA.

- Do you think its wise to wait to receive the PR and then go for the program, rather than applying for Study permit?

Waiting for experts' opinion.

Thanks,
Neeraj Bhide
I was in a similar situation as yours. I had the option of applying for EE and Study permit at the same time. However my uni also had same fees for graduate studies for both international and domestic students. My program was a phd program. So i went and got my study permit first. Then after moving to Canada I applied for EE. Although i would recommend in your case to apply for EE asap. Who knows you are one of the lucky ones and get your PR in 3 months? But even then there are good chances for you to get it by August when your term starts.

You can apply for study permit in April and get it by July (probably sooner if you don't have family and are single applicant). This way you will be safe and can start your studies in time and if you get PR before starting studies then you have added bonus of being PR.

Hey thank you for your quick response! I guess I will proceed with PR application once I receive the ITA. I will take a call around March whether to apply for study permit. Thank you :)

Right, and it's tough even after you get PR. There are not that many jobs in NZ. To be honest, there are not that many jobs in Canada either. It's no fun here as well, especially if you are married with kids. People need to think long and hard whether they are going to be better off in Canada. It's a great country and all but it's tricky as you might not get what you expected (I mean not you but applicants in general)
I'm in NZ at the moment and I can tell you Immigration is starting to remove options and make things harder for everybody. This is an amazing country with some of the most lovely landscapes around the world BUT is extremely expensive... Auckland cost of living is compared only with Tokyo and New York for 5 years in a row now (or maybe 4? I can't remember) and the fact of being such a small country so far away from basically everything but Australia makes all even more complicated (plane tickets, groceries, technology). I do believe Canada it's a better option than here (I've been in Canada before) and is cheaper in almost every sense. Canada has challenges as any country but I can tell you guys is way easier to immigrate and settle down there than in most of the 1st world nations. Here, immigrating by having foreign work experience, passing an English test and having money in the bank is absolutely impossible and even if it were possible... I am not really sure it worth it.

Don't get me wrong, is a really nice place to be but it has bigger issues than Canada; has the lowest currency among the Commonwealth, is too far from everything, the live cost is super expensive, the working culture, it is not as safe as you could expect, etc etc.

Quite quickly and if there is anyone interested I will expand some of these ideas:

- Currency: 1 NZD = 0.64 USD - 0.50 UK Pounds - 0.94 AUD - 0.85 CAD

- Living Cost: It's quite a long explanation but based on my experience after a year here, it might be around 15-25% cheaper in Canada depending on your lifestyle and the place you live in (If you compare Toronto vs a small town in NZ obviously will affect this).

- It is not as safe as you could expect: This was shocking for me, I came from a Latin American country with a lot of safety issues and I was quite surprised when I started to see cars abandoned on the highways with no wheels on them and sometimes the windows broken. Almost every single house here has fences (quite big fences sometimes) and I asked this a lot of times to different people and there is one conclusion, if you have it is because you need it. I heard of thieves and houses being robbed in different places and it's kind of a "not so unusual" thing here. I know Canada also have buglers and stolen stuff BUT if you compare the size of the population here (5M the whole country) vs the amount of cases, you'll see it's becoming a big issue. There are more cases and examples but I'll leave it here as a small sample of what I FEEL about the place.

- Immigration: You receive first a Temporary Residence (which is basically a work permit with another name) and 2 years later if you did everything they wanted you get the PR, so basically even with a job offer you may have to wait 3-4 years before you receive your PR (in that time a lot can happen that might screw your plans, so it's something to take in consideration).

- Working culture: Maybe the biggest issue here to be honest, is something you need to see and live to understand but I can tell you some people here work in slow-motion . I've worked in the U.S and a little bit in Canada and even when you may find lazy people there, it's not like here... it's not like people is lazy here, no... it's more like the speed on how things are done is really slow sometimes.

Now, this place also has a lot.. a lot! of amazing things like very friendly people and some of the most outstanding beaches and lakes (the ocean here looks green emerald and it's something I've never seen before). It's a paradise... is just not MY paradise.

Soooooo in conclusion, yes. For me Canada is a better option facing the future and I do believe that even with all the obstacles, the maple leaf nation is the best option for me and my family.

Hold in there... the PR is not easy but it is way easier (less difficult?) than most of the countries..

are u serious about this ?
I gave my IELTS 9 times to get 8.5/7/78.5
Sadly yes dude. You know what, even today, another Punjabi (student) was apprehended for producing a forged IELTS certificate at the port of entry.
That dude was not answering any questions it seems and once they got suspicious over him, extra probing was made and the dude eventually revealed he paid nearly 2000 CAD to get the certificate even without writing the exam. Furthermore, his UG docs were also forged. He was basically a 10th dropout

So I can say that in the EE pool, at least 10% of the dudes (especially from Punjab and Andhra of India - as per the recent news) are the same cases as above. There are also tons of videos in YouTube on this

But globally, there can be even more candidates (from Africa mostly) with completely forged docs who are competing us in the pool.

No other option. Have to fight even harder and get the ITA.

Moreover, people who studied in Aus or NZ or Germany or UK and H1B candidates too want to come to Canada and rather do not want to obtain Citizenship of the respective nations. So yes, the competition is quite stiff. Cannot predict anything.

Stay positive. True hard-work will pay you dividends very soon

Guys, I have question regarding EE draws. I got an interesting fellowship in biochem research in the US which I have 2 weeks to decide on. Its a 4 year project/position and I would not be able to leave it in between. I have a PhD and a crs of 468 (maxed out score, cannot increase in a short time). If I get ITA and a PR eventually I would not want to relocate to the US. If I relocate I would not be able to move back before 4 years. I have 2 weeks to decide. Should I just wait beyond 2 weeks for the cutoff to come down and turn down this offer or just relocate and apply for PR once towards the end of my project in the US? My fear is if the crs would not come down in the next couple of months (and stays above 470 or so) then I would have lost this position. Please advise.

One of reasons of increase in the 460 plus candidates in the pool is because of the availability of certificates such as IELTS and Masters degree at a marginal cost.

Some dudes simply do not want to write IELTS (lack of good command over English) and simply pay to get the certificates. The irony is that these ppl even pass through successfully.

My sister lives in Canada and she said there was a Punjabi guy (who got PR 3 years ago) and now when he applied to get the Citizenship, the docs he provided to obtain PR were mismatching with what he currently produced to obtain Citizenship.

After an intensive BGV on him, it was found that he produced Forged IELTS and Masters Certificate while obtaining PR. Another shocking revelation is that he said 100s in his community or locality have got through this way in recent times and have got PR/Student Visas but he is the unfortunate one. Heard that he would be deported. Now he regrets he could have better held PR status alone.

Even I have been contacted by those scammers asking me to pay a decent amount of money to get the certificates such has IELTS or PTE. Also heard that they are expanding their service to even provide TEF too

I'm not sure if this is happening quite high in Punjab or Andhra (two states of India often making headlines on all these often) but guys, fraudsters like the above guy too are competing us in the pool and Canada must further intensify its BGV to wipe these frauds.

Seriously frustrated
If he forged his IELTS he would have never made through in the background check itself. How was he even granted a visa in the first place?

Congratulations on the position. I would suggest waiting till the coming draw this Wednesday. Chances are it might be 468 if you are lucky and go with the EE option. If not, atleast you will know the trend and make an informed decision. I do believe it is going to come down to 468 within the next few draws.
What happens if you accept the fellowship and then cancel it later? If that's an option then you can buy yourself some time even though I would agree that's not a nice thing to do. :)

But isn't there an Immigration Canada <-> British Council check during the PR process? it would be difficult to believe they just receive the results document and don't confirm it with the IELTS directly... Assuming the forging process is so good they have people inside IELTS whom actually put the fake info in the system (so far this sounds very difficult to believe), how was detected then at the citizenship procedure?

I feel some of these stories have another side to be told.. Being honest, the IELTS document itself is not difficult to make, anyone with a very basic understanding on any edition software can create it, so I feel the people gets the super high price with the promise of being introduced into the system as well, but it's all fake I think. I am sure there are people entering the EE pool with fake results hoping Canada will not notice it and that is affecting everybody because makes the pool not 100% "natural" as some of those 3600-3900 invitations will get lost because of this, but is not going any further than that. I truly do not believe Canada is accepting people with fake documents without checking its validity.

Would be good if they decided to give those invitations to the next person after the cutting line of each draw but it's fairy tals.. they're just lost invitations...

First of all the one who wrote the message claiming he got pr visa by forging an IELTS certificate is bluffing , I have gone through a lot of gcms notes and in every one of them the agent has reported back to the assessing officer that the ielts certificate has been verified by him/her.

Also, education fraud is not easily done in India, they used to happen but now the ones eho have obtained the certificates by fraudulent means don't get transcripts from university or their verification will fail when immigration verifies the claim made by them.

Hence I disagree that IELTS can be forged and a Immigrant visa can be obtained by claiming a fake IELTS certificate

Just google it and u will realize that fake IELTS thing has grown exponentially, causing havoc in the whole EE system
Yes I have heard of that but that is just a piece of paper and nothing else like I said they will never clear the verification stage. The one's paying for this stupidity are an idiot themself
