Transit Visa for travelling through UK from Canada to India and vice-versa

I have a connecting flight at Heathrow for my Toronto to New Delhi trip with a 2h 10 min connecting time. I reach Heathrow via Air Canada (Terminal 2) at 11.05 AM on July 1st 2014. I need to catch an Air India flight from Terminal 4 at 1.15 PM the same day. I have a some questions about this layover.

Will I need some kind of transit visa for UK? Does this leave me with enough time to make the Air India flight? What if in case my flight from Canada is delayed?

How busy is Heathrow around this time of the year? I have gathered from the Heathrow airport website that I can use the train/bus to get from T2 to T4. Is this correct?

I am an Indian citizen but have a valid Canadian student visa . Would I require a transit visa to go through Heathrow?

Is there a fast lane through immigration for people who have tight connection times at Heathrow?

I know I asked a lot of questions for a first time poster but I'm really stressing out if I'll be able to make this connection at Heathrow and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you,
Varun :)

u dont need transit visa for UK unless u want to leave the airport. 2 hrs is okish time if ur earlier flight is not late u can make it worst come worst u will have to run...and plead bus drivers to take u to th next terminal ..no big deal

it is always busy.....but yes u can use the shuttle .....no big deal again...just follow the signs.

No

No there is not fast lane lol.....u dont go through immigration but go through security check ...again u can try talking to people in front of u in line to let u go fast

hope ur first airindia flight is not late.....worst come worst if u miss the flight go to the air line counter and ask them to put u on next flight.....

Hi Varun,

I am in exactly the same situation as yours. Have you travelled yet? If yes, what was your experience?

Hope to hear back from you soon.

Thank you,
Gauri

It's not about the time. 2 hours are definitely enuough to switch planes. Especially if you're flying the same airline.

My concern is more with UK direct airside transit visa. If this needs to be taken before flying out, then info around it is required.

Anyhow, after conversations with few other friends, it looks like there isn't a requirement for this visa in my scenario.

Hi Guys,

I am travelling to India from Toronto Via UK.
I have the same scenario as mentioned in the topic. Just a slight difference that I'll not be changing terminals. I have a BA flight to and from termianl 1.
Did any one of you who has traveled need to apply for transit visa.
Please let me know.

Thanks in Advance.

I want to know do I need a transit visa if I want to travel from Canada to India via London. And I am still waiting for PR card because of unusual delay due to photo resubmission . I have COPR (Confirmation of PR). If visa is needed how much time it takes for express DATV as my ticket is on 8th feb 2019?

Hi, I need help on understanding transit visa requirement.

I am doing a soft landing in Canada and returning back to India in a week.

My flight from Mumbai to Toronto is via London Heathrow (3.25 hrs layover) and Dublin (1 hour layover).
For the Return Journey, it is Toronto to Mumbai via London Heathrow (again 3.25 Hours layover).

Do i need transit visa for any leg of this journey. I am not leaving London/Dublin airports.

As from the available information, it seems I won't need Transit Visa at London while going (exempt due to Valid Canada Visa), will i need one for Dublin while going and London (since i won't have PR Card by then). Please help.
