Hello,
My wife is a canadian citizen, we have been married for 2 years now, we both live outside of canada for a while and also got married outside of canada.
I have a visitor visa that is expiring in 10 years and have already been in canada to visit my wife's parents in january this year. So my question is this.
Since we are expecting a baby we are planning of moving to canada and the problem is I can only stay for 6 months and I can't work with a visitor visa. What is the best option for me to get permanent residency fast and what happens to my visitor visa if I apply for anything else.
Would love to get some help and info beacuse I couldn't find much on the official websites
Thanks

You wife likely lost her health coverage and will have to reapply and depending on the province there will be an up to 3 months waiting period where you will have to pay for any care. There are residency requirements to receive healthcare even if you have a valid health card. If she has not worked for 600 hours before the delivery she will also not receive maternity leave payments. One option would be to apply via express entry if your CRS score is above 460 but probably more. You would need to have already done things like IELTS and had your degrees evaluated. It would still take on average up to 6 months.

Your best option is to arrive in Canada and file for inland sponsorship with OWP. You will not be able to work for around 4 months and it will take around a year to get sponsorship. Yet again I would look into whether your wife has lost health coverage and whether you have the funds to pay for any routine medical or emergencies.

Did you guys stay here for 6 months when her health care was renewed? If not, then if your wife uses the health card to give birth, be prepared to pay back all costs in full. It is fraudulent to use any provincial health insurance knowing you guys are not complying with the residency obligations for it. I suggest that you check the obligations per the province you plan to give birth in.
