Hi,

I came to Canada to live with my partner in January 2018.
So far I extended my status as a visitor 3 times, last time I asked for 1 year extension that will expire in April.

We made a few mistake, my partner didn’t change her marital status to common-law on the CRA and the only proof we have is internet bill under my name showing same address and mail coming to the same PO Box.

We are going to start a bank account together and maybe a Costco membership, whatever we can to prove that we are cohabitating.
We live in a rural area and the house belongs to my partner, her late father gave it to her.
Our neighborhood is basically all family member, nephews, sister, cousins etc.
We thought of getting a letter from them stating that we are cohabitating, they also know us well. My partner’s brother lives with us and is willing to testify that. The letters will be notarized.
My mother came to visit from Italy from July to September and she could also write a letter.

I will be applying for an extension of March and they will take 3 months to make a decision. In case they reject it and fall out of status I will still have time to gather proof and submit my PR, the only downside is that I won’t be able to submit the open work permit, but that’s not a big deal.

What kind of proof do you guys suggest we should gather in the mean time? I have text conversation between me and my partner when she goes to work and I’m home with her kids, if that helps to show cohabitation.

Thank you so much.

Wow thank you I appreciate this!
The only thing here is that we no longer have communication prior to me moving to Canada as it was completely social media based (Facebook) and we both decided to give up on social medias and everything we had is lost ☹ But we have ongoing text messages when she goes to work as I’m at home, which I think would be ok. I can write a letter explaining why we don’t have the previous conversations saved.
