Hi everyone!

I have a question. As you can see in my timeline, I've applied for Permanent Residence under OINP International Students with Job Offer, with my wife as my dependent. We are currently in Ontario.

AR - June 2019
AOR - July 2019
...waiting for next steps

When I applied, I was already working until now in the company (in Ontario) that provided me the job offer and the Employer Form for my application for OINP which I got nominated for. Now, my wife is pregnant and our baby is due in December. I am planning on taking parental leave in 3 weeks and will return to work in the same company in August next year.

Will this affect our PR application?

Thanks in advance!

No worries, as long as you are still employed under the company you are working for, it wont affect your PR. In my case I just use my annual leave for 2 weeks.

Whew! Thank you so much for your reply. My wife and I are so worried about this matter. Any updates on your application by the way?

By the way, I sent an email to OINP and this is their reply:

Dear ,

Thank you for your email correspondence to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) mailbox.

Please note that your approval is subject to the conditions outlined in the approval letter. This means you must continues to demonstrate on a reasonable basis an intention to reside in Ontario and continues to be employed in the approved employment position. Your duties, wage, hours of work, etc. must remain consistent with those set out in the approved application.

Vacation periods, regular sick leave and other standard paid leave entitlements as provided for in collective agreements, workplace legislation and/or individual employer policies are not considered interruptions to full-time employment.

We hope this information will assist you. Once again, thank you for your email and for your interest in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.

Sincerely,

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program | Programme ontarien des candidats à l’immigration

Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade | Ministère du Développement économique, de la Création d'emplois et du Commerce

It did not mention Parental Leave, so I am still in a dilemma. :(
