Hi- About ready to submit my completed package. I have IMM5533 (checklist), IMM1344 (undertaking), IMM0008 (Generic app), IMM5532 (relationship eval), IMM5406 (add'l family info), IMM5569 (schedule A), Then several letters of explanation. (intent to live in CA, means of support, valid marriage, etc). Then all the other info- birth certs, passports, visa photos, police rep, marriage lic, bills, taxes, divorce papers, other proofs).

Question is: What is the best way to submit? I will try to use the order of the checklist. I noted they said after the checklist, put "any barcode" pages. So one fishes the barcode pages and move from their place in whatever form to after the checklist?

How about letters of explanation- any order, or put after any particular form?

HOw about the 'other' docs? (police rep, travel docs, etc)... whatever we are including as various proofs- OK to just append them at the end-

And OK to use paperclips on each "section"?

Anyhow, I was wondering if there's a known protocol for all this!

Thanks-

Have you read the official CIC on-line help guide on spousal sponsorship? It is all in there:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5525-basic-guide-sponsor-your-spouse-partner-child.html#submit

Oh yes, most definitely read the instructions. They seem to be the minimum requirement.

Yes, the answer is there about the barcode page. Got it. And yes, following the order from the checklist. Got it.

Just not super clear on a few points- I suspect, for instance, that one doesn’t need table of contents or heading/separated pages for some of the “extra” (but required) backup info. Or to put “backup or supporting “ docs directly behind the form req

Again, was just looking for advice on assembly techniques that are allowed, and have been successful...

Thank you,

Thank you,
Do not send in stuff they have not asked for. They do not need covering letters, content pages etc. or they would have asked for them.

Put extra pages and supporting documents behind the relevant IMM form they relate to.

The order that I did things was:

Section 1: Checklist, barcode pages
Section 2: Sponsor forms & additional docs related to sponsor (e.g. passport scan, proof of intent to return, settlement plan, etc.)
Section 3: Primary applicant forms & additional docs related to primary applicant (e.g. police certificates, proof of relationship, etc.)

All forms were in the order specified on the checklist, with supporting docs specific to a form coming directly after it. Don't worry too much as the visa officers will just move everything into whatever order they want it in anyways. Just remember not to use staples, binders, sleeves, etc. I used paperclips to hold relevant forms & supporting docs together since the guide said that was acceptable.

Great step-by-step! I ended up doing just like suggested- follow the checklist- and ordered the forms, background docs, letters-of-explanation(s) in the order of the checklist. It seems now to make logical sense-

thanks all for taking the time to help & confirm these points. I found some of the formal instructions ambiguous- so having your opinions & experience really helps!

now assembling l, copying and getting ready to mail this large package!

Strongly recommend using a proper 'end to end' international courier (DHL, FEDEX, UPS etc.) and NOT a national post office (e.g. Royal Mail in the UK etc.).

Aha! More good advice- I’m mailing from US, I’m presuming you are recommending against using USPS (priority mail)? Any reason why? I’m guessing USPS isn’t end to end, they handoff, probably Canada post? ...

Don't use USPS, I believe the tracking doesn't work once it reaches Canada. I also mailed my application from USA and we used FedEx, it was about 25$ for the entire package including cost of envelope. From my understanding FedEx also does its own custom's clearance. We also did not use the express service. It took 2 days extra but still arrived at the destination. Also are you mailing to 49 Dorchster or the PO Box? Do not send Couriers to the PO box, it won't reach.

Make sure you send to the appropriate address if using a courier. When I applied in December 2019, there was a different receiving address for canada post etc. and a different address for purolator etc.

I am going to use a courier. I am applying as Family Class/Spousal Sponsorship. The address for courier is "CPC Sydney
49 Dorchester Street,Sydney, NS, B1P 5Z2".

For our dependents proof of Canadian Citizenship application, we sent it by USPS (Priority Mail) to the same address (per the instructions) in August 2019. We DID get a confirmation of delivery from USPS. Um. We haven't heard back as far as UCI, or anything yet! (hmmm, now I'm thinking for sure NOT to use USPS Priority Mail for my PR!!!). On the other hand, I think you don't get a UCI until they start processing, so maybe for the dependents proof they haven't started yet?

OK, I'll look at FedEx and others...

Thanks all! If you have experience with USA-Canada couriers for your PR, let us know- Knowledge is power!

I ended up using FedEx. It cost $106 USD (California to NS). It arrived in two days, with Proof of signature. Ok, now to wait and see...

Thanks all for the tips and help...
