Hey guys.
What do you do when college gives you a deferral to January intake after you miss out on September intake due to visa delays?
Do you update cic with new offer letter ?

Don't panic, try and provide your CV,if you don't have but make sure that, what's on your CV....relate to the application you submitted.
For employment details
You have to provide your appointment letter which will bear the date you gotten the job till date, in other hand, if possiblly you worked in different companies, you have to provide the appointment letter also, ...and specify it

Cheers

Finally after 70+ days, I got PPR today. I had applied on 6th July sds online. Got my Biometric updated on 15th July, Medical on 31st July, Correspondence letter on 6th August.
The wait seemed endless and was very frustrating. I hope and pray, those still waiting get their visa soon.
congrats.

Hi everyone

I was a silent reader here and here is my story...

I made a paper-based application for my PhD study permit at McMaster for Sept intake on 6th June 2019. Since this was my first application, I never thought it would take a long time to get my visa. So when July passed and I didnt get any update on my application, I decoded to send a web enquiry on 21st Aug even though the application was still within the 3 month processing time for my country, Lesotho. I was panicking since the scholarship offer for my PhD was meant to expire by the 7th of Sept 2019. On the 28th Aug I received a response for my web enquiry stating that actually they sent a medical request letter on the 30th July via mail...remember we have one month to submit this. I was dumbfounded cos I remember, I provided my email address in my application. So, why wasnt the medical request sent my email...I was maaad! I wrote another web enquiry explaining my situation. Ghey replied the same day to tell me, rather irritably, that "your application cannot be finalized without medicals". I went bacj to my application form on my PC to check if I messed anything. Then to my horror, in the address and contact information fields, its chaos...residential address is wrong...city and town missing...as well as the email and phone numbers. God how did this happen...I double checked this part more than anywhere else. But there it was...so the mail was sent to the wrong address! Fuuuuck! I screamed!
At this point Im frantic...after working so hard for this PhD offer and Im going to lose it? No! I tried to book an appointment for medicals on 29 Aug next day...secretary was like...we can book a spot for you on the...13th Sept! What?! Are you kidding me no way! I sent another email and told them I have do the medical tomorrow friday 30 Aug! Secretary came back and said...we are sorry but the best we can do is monday 2 Sept. Reluctantly I agreed...atleast its not bad. Its amazing how hopeful we can be when we are in these kinds of situations. After an hour another email came in...its the medical clinic...they can squeeze me in tomorrow afternoon 30th Aug after all. Good! Tomorrow I was there at 3pm sharp for my medicals...but hell...the blood pressure is spiking all over the place. Doctor is like...its probably the stress...try to calm down for some time...but the blood pressure is still abnormally high...so the doctor has no choice but to refer me for additional tests on BP...seriously! Im despondent and thought its over now.
On monday 2nd Sept I went for additional tests...blood pressure is still borderline tachycardia. I took the BP report and sent it to the doctor. She took some time and finally managed to submit my medicals on the 16th September. By this time my professor is sending messages every 2 days. He say if you are not here by the 30th Sept...the deal is off.
Im happy to say that yesterday 19th Sept around midday, I got my PPR and hopefully I can still make it before 30th. You never know with these people.

But my story highlights the fact that IRCC can still be quick when required and can be understanding even when the error was on my side.

I also heard people talking about SOPs on this platform. Well, guys I didnt read this thread before applying. So, my SOP was a mere 5 lines in which I explained that the main reason I chose Canada is that I have been offered an opportunity to work with a leading scholar in cutting edge research. Moreover, Km from a mathematics and statistics background but my PhD research will be in electrical and computer engineering. I also never mentioned the golden worlds...about whether I will return home after studies. I was like...why should I answer something they never asked.

Thanks for the support guys
and all the best to everyone who has been waiting. Your time will surely come.
