Applying to EOR

Hi guys,

I am new in the Forum and I was wondering if anyone could help me with my concern.

I have taken General IELTS getting the following results:

Date: 17-08-2019
S:8
R:7
L:7.5
W:5.5

In order for me to be eligible for EE I need to have at least 6 in each module. I have applied for EOR 2 days ago and I am waiting for the results. Now, I have read many forums and comments. Some of them are in my favor, but some others are not. The comment that concerns me the most is: Is it true that when you get 2 band scores bellow the others, your writing gets rechecked automatically? I just found out the tests are marked in the partner IELTS test center and when you ask for an EOR, your test is sent over to IELTS in Europe to be assessed there.

My lowest band score after the 5.5 of writing was 7 and that makes a 1.5 band score difference. Does anybody know about this? I applied for the EOR regardless so I guess It does not really matter anymore. Yet, I would like to know if anyone has any information about this.

Thank you.

Heyya,

I saw many cases where there is gap of more than 2 band but still there is been increase in EOR.
And, I will argue that 2 band theory is not myth. I guess there is such rule but the only catch is that assessment team do not bother to follow it.
As IELTS became a money making machine, they are just focusing on handling increased test takers and correcting more to reach target deadline. Hence they are ignoring quality of assessment.

my scores are LRWS: 8.5,8,6,7.5 and as you can see there is a difference of more that 2 band even for me. But, still I am hoping for increase in score in EOR.

Hello Aitha,

Thank you so much for your response. I really hope they did not check my test twice in the test center so I can get a higher mark. I felt super confident about my writing section when I left the test and this is why I decided to go for the EOR. Please let me know what the outcome of your EOR is.

Thank you.

2 years back when I wrote IELTS for 1st time just for fun my scores have been withheld for a full month. I later known that they had to re-correct my sheets as I got 8.5,8,7 in LRS and 5.5 in speaking. So, I am certain that if there is any reevaluation, they will withhold your score for a good long period.
So Keep your hopes up that you'll be awarded what you deserve.

Sure I will update my EOR results. I request same with you.

Absolutely. I just received an email from the test center saying that they had forwarded my EOR to the British Council so, from now on I just have to wait. I will keep you posted. Good luck with your results.

Hi Aitha,

I am beyond excited to let you know I received 1 full band increase in my writing section. Surprisingly, I received an answer 5 days after I applied for the EOR. I was not expecting the process to be so quick. I really hope you get yours soon!

Thanks for replying to my threat.

I took it in George Brown at 341 King St East. I have the feeling my exam was re-marked in the same test center rather than being sent to London. I never heard about them getting back with an EOR answer so quickly and it literally took them 6 days from the moment I applied, to the moment I got my answer. Anyways, I guess I can't complain. Something better than this would have been a 7 out of 9 and that would have been a miracle.

Yes it definitely would be a miracle if you score band 7. Hope I face such a miracle with 1 band increase.

can you post your success story in this thread as it would be inspirational to others aswell.

Hey Aitha!!
What I understand from this is that, it is a tad rare for improved scores in EOR when there is over a 2 band difference in scores. Is that right?
Also, what's your EOR timeline? It's been over 3 weeks in my case.

I think EOR scores are nothing to do with other module scores. I feel It is purely bases on corrector's mood and our luck. If they feel writing / speaking is some what better than what it is marked, then they'll add 0.5. If it is far better then 1 band will be increased.

My timeline:
IELTS exam on 17th August.
Results on 30th August.
Applied for EOR on 31th August.
Got confirmation of application on Sept 5th.
Fingers crossed and waiting for the results.

There is a good chance that your re scoring is already completed but they are too lazy to release the scores until it reaches 21day or 28 day mark. So, give them call multiple times.
BTW, where is your exam center?

I wrote my exam at IDP Chennai, India. I applied on Aug 20 and they told me to wait for 28 days for the results. I sent an email yesterday just to follow up, for which they replied,

Thank you for contacting IDP IELTS India.

With the reference to the below email, this is to inform you that we have forwarded your email to the concerned department & we will assist you accordingly.

Let's see how this turns out.

I hope you get your desired scores. Best of luck to you, bud. :)
