Hi,
You have to provide everything that is mentioned in the document check list for your daughter. As far as I remember it ask for your and your wife's landing paper. For more details you can call BLS.
In regards to your change of address on your OCIs, you don't have to apply for new OCI if you address changes. You can go to consulate website and under OCI/change of address you can register your new address and they will send/email you an acknowledgement that you can carry with you while traveling along with your OCI. The process is free.
In the counsulate website -> OCI Miscellaneous Services -> its is giving me Part A / Part B/Upload photo options. Do i need to upload photos again even for only address change?

Hello,
I have personally no experience of this process. If they have asked for pictures I would suggest just use any pictures at home. Or else call consulate.

Hi Gaurav
You should have this number. Its an online application number that you get when you fill and submit your application for OCI. I dont think you have to go to BLS just for that. Check your email that you used to fill your application it should have a confirmation.
you're right! thank you.

You mentioned in the previous post that for address change we dont need to apply for a new OCI card and instead need to update the address online and that we will get an email acknowledgement.

I'm not able to find this option online. Can you guide me to that link?

The only option i find is the OCI Miscellaneous link where I have to fill online Part A/Part B with documents for which they will issue a new OCI Card.

Pls advise.

I recently applied for OCI miscellaneous as old passport was changed to new. I received the OCI booklet but not asked to submit my original canadian passport for U-sticker. has this process been changed no need for U-sticker in passport?

Another question is about the old OCI booklet. I have been returned. Do i dispose it off or keep it for record all life long?

I am looking to apply for OCI and have part A and part B filled in. It is asking me to upload mandatory documents but I am planning to submit renunciation and OCI on the same day. What should I upload for the "Indian Origin Proof". This is what it says:

Surrendered Indian passport (first and last page) with stamp showing ‘Cancelled on acquiring foreign citizenship.’ *For those that misplaced/lost their Indian passport, upload relevant documents like ‘deemed Surrender certificate’ or refer to documents mentioned under ‘Proof of Indian origin’ section, for those that did not have an Indian passport

Hi All,

I am going to Apply for OCI and Indian citizenship renunciation.

I went through so many pages on this thread but couldn't get solid answer.

What I understand is that I can apply for these things together. But, Do you require Canadian passport to apply for these? or citizenship certificate after oath (along with COPR and filled online application) will be sufficient.
I am going to be finishing my oath ceremony next month and want to apply for these as soon as possible (i am travelling to India in Nov)
I am in the same boat. My oath is on Sep 27 and I am travelling to India in mid Dec.

Here are instructions for checking status on Consulate website:
Webpage: https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/eoi.php?id=oci_application
Click on: Track status of your application: https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnquiry
Enter Passport number
Enter Acknowledgment Number: This number is different than that you use to check status on BLS website.
In my case, to check status on BLS website it starts as OCIT ********
To check on consulate website it CANT********
In both cases it should be 12 letters in total.
Hi dev514,

My husband submitted his surrender and OCI application on 7th Sep. Do we get the Acknowledgment in email or by regular mail?

There will be no acknowledgement email.

Hi Manu,
In 3-4 weeks the status on consulate website will change to Application Acknowledged and the same day they will send your original documents back to BLS. BLS will then forward them to you. Even if BLS didn't take your original document they will still send you an empty envelope (BLS gets commission for every courier, so just a money making scheme from BLS). You can only see a tracking for this package on BLS website.
Once the consulate acknowledged your application, the OCI process will start from the date of acknowledgement. Total OCI time after acknowledgment is 60-90 days according to website.

FYI: Keep track of your application on both Consulate and BLS website.

Folks - New to the forum. I will be applying for my OCI soon. I have a question regarding marriage certificate.

- I have a canadian marriage certificate as we got married in Canada. Therefore my document is issued my ministry of ontario. Spouse has no status in canada yet
- OCI requires that i authenticate my canadian certificate from ministry of ontario (what an irony here) and give it to the consulate of india for attestation
- Now there is actually a service called ODS in Canada that will authenticate the document but what they do here is provide me with an additional piece of paper - a certificate of authenticity
- But OCI people want a stamp on the photocopy of the marriage certificate from ministry of ontario but ODS does not do that
-Now ODS gave me an option that i can go to a notary and get a stamp and then they can still issue me certificate of authenticity
-But OCI does not want stamp by notary

What the heck am i supposed to do - BLS keep repeating themselves like a parrot obviously clueless about what is required..

Can someone with experience please help me put on the best approach here

Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have experience with authentication of my marriage certificate. Follow the instructions below.
- Take original document along with one photo copy to notary public.
- Make sure the notary public is registered with Ontario authentication office (check ontario website). If you can't find one, I used https://www.instantnotary.ca/ their office is on Church street (downtown) close to Ontario Documentation authentication office. Do not use any other notary it won't be accepted.
- Take the notary document to the authentication office in downtown. Its a quick 30-40 mins process. (Use street parking, way cheaper)
- Then take it to Indian consulate (consulate is not too far from this office). If you can reach consulate before 12 then you can get your authenticate certificate same day by 2pm. Make sure to take an extra copy of driver licence, copy of authenticated certificate, address proof, copy of your spouse address proof. (There is a photo copy in the mall below consulate, take cash with you)
- Now you can add this to you application.

Let me know if you have trouble?
