But I am not missing (that would be now show up for the test) - I am asking to reschedule because I cannot be there. I am thinking to let them know in advance
I think it is better you wait for your trip and if your test scheduled for that time then you can contact them after you missed your test (with explanations about your trip)

You can leave Canada after we receive your application as long as you:

  • keep your permanent resident (PR) status
  • can receive any letter mail, parcels and emails we send you after you submit your application
  • can reply to our letters and emails within the specified time, usually within 30 days
  • are available in person in Canada to attend your citizenship test (if you’re between 18 and 54 years of age), interview, and ceremony
Let us know if you plan to leave Canada for more than two weeks in a row

Hi,
Are you talking about In Process stage or the whole process?
I think the system works like this:
Sydney office receives all Citizenship applications first.
They input paper applications into their systems (data entry) and email AOR to applicants at Sydney office then they transfer each application to its final CPC for further processing. CPC (Case Processing Center) is a office that process and finalize applications after AOR. Sydney itself is a CPC too (deals with a part of applications).
When CPC received application from Sydney, they change status to "In Process".
CPC's existing backlog can cause further delays for processing applications.
We can assume that for those applications receive IP just after AOR, CPC can be Sydney office and application just move from one room to another.;)
I think you have summarized the process correctly - but that is not my point
All I am saying is - For those of us not near a permanent office (like me in Victoria) - one of the factors for when the IP and Scheduling happens is if there is an upcoming semi-annual visit. for processing For example: Lets say there is a scheduled IRRC temp visit planned for September 23 to 26, When they approve an AOR or IP, and it is only 90 days till the Scheduled IRCC they may just say - Hey Lets get this applicant scheduled soon so they don't need to wait till the next visit in 9 months time. Similarly If the next applicant is only 60 days away from the scheduled visit they may also expedite the scheduling so they max the upcoming IRCC session. Its my thoughts on why some go fast and some go slow - its partially influenced by the fixed date sessions in Temp offices so they max the efficiency and cost. BUT In my case - I think we missed the opportunistic window for September. Too soon

You will likely go to Prince George at a temporary IRCC office.
People living far away from processing offices are invited to temp offices. If all background checks are completed you should be invited to do the Interview and Oath same day or next day, depending on the office hours.

Applicants from Terrace go to PG and applicants from North Vancouver Island (like myself) go to Victoria or Parksville.
This link gives you the date range of the temp offices.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/offices/find-temporary-offices.html

The officer processing the application makes the decision as to if an applicant goes to a temporary office or not.
Its usually based on the residential address in the application form and is not something that can be requested.
Thanks! This is great news. Prince George is only six hours away. And Grand Prarie is only three hours away. That amount of driving is actually very good, living in Fort St. John. Thanks again.
