Yes you are totally right brother.. I have this thing in my mind. I can't wait for long as my classes start on 3rd Sept. I will send the webform may be after 2-3 days. Really grateful for the advice
No problem brother and good luck. I am just telling you this because 80-90% of applicants on this forum mentioned that they got PPR the same day or within a few but I can tell that after that correspondence letter, your visa gets issue the next day (given that your background and medical etc was good).... So hopefully you can get something. Worst case, you can still miss a week or a few days from your classes.. Since first week is usually orientation and intro..

For me, it took exactly a week and that too because it was during the EID holidays, otherwise within a few days it should be done.... They tell you the average time but mostly everyone gets it within a few days or a week exact...
Okay great, good to know! Thanks

In same boat as most of the people on this thread, received IMM-1017 despite upfront medical on 17th. I have sent in webform and CSE. Waiting for status to be updated.

Any idea how long before it gets updated?

In that case, you should contact your college/uni and ask them for a deferral letter. Because the VO would expect that letter since it would be in the middle of the semester. Even if they don't ask, as soon as the term starts and you have not heard back, I would recommend that you get that deferral letter as that can take time as well
Yes, I have asked the professor for the deferral letter, but he seems busy to me and has not yet replied. I talked to the graduate assistant and she told me that my request has been forwarded to him and he will reply to you soon.
I hade to attend TA meeting on 28th but now I had to excuse from the meeting, so sad.

Hello
I applied for my study permit on 1st july from Karachi and I just got refusal letter after almost 2 months.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your student permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.

You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

I even went to gerrys office to ask more about it but they said that they dont understand why it got rejected.
I showed a bank statement of around 47 lakhs.
I am also in a good university (uoit- bachelor's in information and technology) i just finished my alevels with decent grades.

I dont understand how travel history is related to study permit. As a student i go everywhere my parents go.

Now i am thinking to reapplying. For January intake
Can you help that where the mistake could be.
One more thing should i request my gcms notes.

I will be waiting the response. Please help me

First of all, I am sorry for your refusal. I know it's heartbreaking.

But I would like to point out a few things.

First of all, the point where it mentions about your travel history, that is a very generic rejection point that they often add. The only way you can overcome this point is by having a strong SOP overall and mentioning everything properly.

As for this point: I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.
There are several ways that you can tackle this point. I understand that you showed 47 lakhs bank statement. Now the thing is that did you show money trail from where that money came from? For example, if it was your parents money, did you show their tax assessment (if you had from FBR), did you show properties if you had any (this can be great for you to return), did you show your parents bank slips? I am mentioning parents because I am assuming that your parents have sponsored your education as for most of us in Pakistan.

Another way to show the money trail is for example, your parents sold some land, then you would need to show that bill of sale. So if you just show 47 lakhs (even if the money was in the account for more than 4-6 months, you still need to show the trail). If you just show salary and it doesn't add up then obviously they will think that it's parking money....

As for this point: I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
This means that your SOP wasn't strong enough. Now i am not sure about your background education. Good grades , bad grades etc etc does not matter in terms of approval. You can have all the A+'s in the world and still be rejected. The main thing is that you need to show your purpose of visit. So for example, if you did A levels and got good grades and took some business courses and wanted to pursue business education, you would need to mention that you took business courses in A levels and/or O levels and how that helped you to further chose a career path... Also you would need to explain why you chose a program at UOIT as opposed to other universities (in your native country). You can have some points like: Quality of education in Canada, multculture, how it will help you when you return to Pakistan, you can mention that an education from Abroad gives you an edge over a highly competitive job market in Pakistan over other Pakistani graduates. Mention that your sole purpose to go to Canada is to study and at the end of your studies you Will return. Mention that you have strong ties (parents, siblings, etc and properties and your family is well settled) so you don't need to settle in another country........

I hope this helps you.. Everyone has a different SOP, and everyone's situation is different so it's better to gather all the key points and mention. It doesn't matter if you go over 2-3 pages, but all needs to be there.....

As @alijumani mentioned to apply under the SDS category (that's a good idea) but that won't increase chances of acceptance, SDS's main purpose is to speed up the entire process. Yes, in SDS you would need to submit your yearly tuition fees, put in a GIC deposit of 10K CAD and all but in the SOP, you still need to mention all your financial situation about money and all... SDS still requires a strong SOP....

I hope this helps, just work on your SOP a little bit and I can help you review it...

hopefully this helps...

First of all thank you the reply.

First point: how should i add my travel history in my sop. I had to mention my history on the temporary Visa form for the last 5 year. Which i did as i was living in dubai before and i showed all the travel i made between dubai and Pakistan with correct entey and exit dates according to the passports in last 5 years.

Second for the money. Yes you are right my father is sponsoring me. For the money yes we showed the fbr statement. And my father has its own business so we also showed all the certificate and the tax returns for the business also. For the property the gerry guy told us that it is better not to add property so we didn't showed that. But this time i am thinking to add that also. Can you tell me how can i show that, like what papers do we have submit for it.

Regarding the sop i have a feeling that it was good but returning portion was not good enough i guess i failed on that part.
If possible can you review it once. Here or on private message.

The fact that you spent time in Dubai does not indicate good travel history. Travel history is a generic history..... You need to prove ties to homeland that you will come back. You should clearly outline your future plans, how this degree will help you upon your return to Pakistan and all.

The Gerry's guy telling you not to attach property documents and all does not make sense, yes they know a lot but this is common stuff and everybody submits it. You can get property evaluation documents and go to any stamping place (kachairy for example and ask them). If you showed your father's bank statement, then just make sure you attached several months back bank statement to show consistency, you should also attach like an account maintenance certificate and outline your dad's bank information and all..

And for sure you can inbox me your SOP once you get everything written down. You have time since you would want to go for the Winter 2020 term now. It's good to get all these things and then re apply...
